Draft Yakupov and another year of experience up front means our offense will be better next year, but our defense gets even worse, so it likely would mean another lottery pick.

<-- Credit goes to The Nemesis.
The reason he struggled this whole season was due to the up tempo offensive style of hockey Pittsburgh plays.
If I had to guess(hope), we will be trying to implement something similar. Not sure it's the best idea to trade for a guy who struggled in that style of play.
Pair him with someone big/physical and RH and you're good to go. Check combined hits of Martin/Michalek and you understand why they suffered against aggressive forechecks. At New Jersey, Brodeur's puckhandling helped a ton as did their trapping-like system then. Martin is an excellent skater - up tempo was never the issue.
I would be interested in acquiring Martin. Apparently he struggled this year (I didn't watch enough to verify) but as a veteran defenseman who has played quite well for the majority of his career, I would think this past season was an abnormality. He has a hefty contract but it's not overly restricting. This is an opportunity to get him for cheap.
Hey guys, can you tell me about Theo Peckham? I'm interested in him as an Isles fan, is he capable of a top four spot, how is his skating, can he be had for picks and second-tier prospects?
top 4? never, his skating is medicore, his aggression is top notch and he his a protector of teammates. we hoped he would turn into Matt Greene 2.0 but it hasnt panned out.................that being said he is a valuable valuable piece of the oilers so maybe Tavares and 2012 4OA
I'm hearing rumblings that Sarich wants to sign in Edmonton.
Isn't he Nick Schultz's brother in law? I could see him giving Edmonton serious consideration. Definitely an improvement over Potter-Peckham and we wouldn't have to worry about him taking any more runs at the kids this way.
