The time of pure enforcers is over. If they can't play a regular shift then we shouldn't waste a roster spot on them. And in the case of BGL, if they are too nice to do any enforcing then we shouldn't waste a roster spot in him.

I like the guy, but he just doesn't have a place here. If we want to have a more dedicated fighter dress 7 D and tell Engo to go to town.

It looks like time of pure enforcers is over. If you want toughness, you go after likes of Asham, Prust or Neil, players that you aren't afraid to put on ice for a shift or two. Laraque is going to have hard time finding a taker.

Not even worth a tryout IMO. What use is he even if he can skate? No one will fight the guy and it's not like we had a huge problem with guys taking liberties last year. We knuckle up by committee and that's good enough, with Engo leading the group.

I can't believe you guys are serious. He's done, and besides, I can't see how helps us.

If he could learn to play D, and instead of fight, hit people...then we got something.

Winger for Sid!!!!

Anyways, thanks but no thanks on George. Hell of a class act, but he is just not something that is needed in the league anymore. Enforcers that only do that, fight other enforcers, is a dead art (in some ways tragic).

Wish the guy best of luck getting to play some where, but there isn't a place for him here.

Article says Edmonton or Montreal, both make sense for Laraque.

Edmonton could use him to play on the 4th line, he can protect the young guys, he's a former Oiler, he considers Edmonton his home away from home, he has a house there, his kids are there, it would be cool for him to finish his career there.

Montreal could use him because, well if they can give Brad Staubitz a roster spot, they can give Laraque one, he's also a former Canadien, his mother lives there, he would be playing for Therrien for a 3rd time (Juniors winning the Memorial Cup, Pittsburgh Penguins).

Both teams make sense, but I'm still considering Philadelphia as a landing spot, he said he would sign anywhere, they need a replacement for Jody Shelley, he's a former Penguin who Flyers fans hated, it just makes sense.

He has experience as the Habs did use him on the top line 3 years ago

I don't understand why anyone would want him at this point.

I hope the guy is affiliated with an organization eventually, but definitely not playing for one. His game is gone. His value to a team is gone because that type of fighting doesn't exist.

Great guy... not a great player.

No to Laraque !

But I still see Shero signs enforcer this off-season. He wants to have that policeman on his roster when needed.

2-way 1-year contract 550k ... I think it'll be McGrattan.

Why not re-sign MacIntyre?

because he is useless. There is no situation where I would dress him. If we think its worth wasting a forward spot for an enforcer, just have 1 less forward and dress 7 D and let Engo deal with anything that comes up. That way we don't have to worry about losing a D when he fights but we don't waste a roster spot with a guy that can't play more than 2 or 3 minutes.

I know, I was just responding to PenguinTommy's comment about Shero signing an enforcer for his roster and guessing it would be Brian McGratten, my thinking is, why not re-sign MacIntyre? They both play the same role, and MacIntyre is probably the best enforcer in hockey right now.

Always liked BGL but right now I would rather have Parros.

I don't know, maybe because MacIntyre didn't fight, not even once, but McGrattan did..

I just think, one enforcer will be signed, IMO. For a few call-ups, if needed.

No thanks...if only because there aren't any goons left in the league, and they're the only ones who'd be willing t fight him.

MacIntyre didn't fight because nobody wanted to fight him. He tried to find a fight a couple times but nobody wanted to fight him, they would see who it was and skate away.

If you want an enforcer, that's the kind of guy you want, not a guy that will fight and have anyone fight him, a guy that other team's players can look at and say "we better not do anything stupid or we have to deal with that guy".
