Swedes, if your in the Wall Street/Battery Park area, go to Fraunces Tavern, it dates back to the 1700s. Also McSorley's is great, Abraham Lincoln drank there, Messier did too. A fun spot you might like is "Please Don't Tell", it's a hidden speak easy you can only enter from a secret entrance. Google it

I'm backing up BG on this. I'm a pseudo-local and I think that BG is virtually always spot-on with his comments about NYC. He's probably the most knowledgeable poster we have about spots in the City from my experience.

lol. I'm always shocked to see Olive Garden in Times Square packed. These tourists come from California, South Carolina, Maine, and Missouri, to one of the greatest culinary cities on the planet..... And they eat at friggin Olive Garden?!?! It honestly boggles my mind in a way I cannot understand. And it's not about money, because there are plenty of cheap restaurants in Little Italy and elsewhere that are even cheaper than Olive Garden.

No, but Mr. Krinkle is easy to find as he's most-likely-to-have-alcoholic-beverage in hand.

Hint - there are 5 in this picture. Well, actually 6, but one doesn't really post on here all that much.

Haha DS and his two buds came by us in the DOG line and asked where Hell's was. I was ready to ask the blond guy (2nd from the right) if he was DS but then actual DS told me who he was. Slightly dissapointed!!!

Full disclosure: DevilSwede lives in Sweden, but he's not an ethnic Swede. His family is from another country.

Oh, and the funniest part? We're at Hell's Kitchen post game and one DS's friends was checking out this girl, and her face was, uh, not up to the par of the rest of her.

So they say in Swedish they call them bag-girls (meaning you put a bag over her head, of course) or something like that, and then the one friend goes "With a lamp down, it's the same". I start laughing, and I go, I don't think that translated right, but yeah, exactly. Then I say, here we call them 'butter faces' sometimes, giving them a little American flair.

It took honestly near 5-10 minutes of English and Swedish explanation before he goes, 'Ohhh... but-her-face, butterface!' and starts laughing hysterically. Easily one of the funniest things that I ever saw.

I have to disagree with parts of this. The Highline is an incredible date spot. Absolutely brilliant date spot, actually. You'd be surprised how many people have lived here a few years and have never been.

Grey's is good for cheap drunk hot dogs. S'mac is mac and cheese and, admittedly kitschy, but there's aren't a ton of non-chain mac and cheese places really anywhere, so it's got that going for it. That cart on 53rd and 6th is legendary for all the right reasons. Well worth it. I try to go once a year.
