Leafs Shopping Luke Schenn to Edmonton for the First Overall Pick

The Toronto Maple Leafs are rumoured to be shopping defenceman Luke Schenn to the Edmonton Oilers as part of a deal where both teams would swap 1st-round draft picks in this month's NHL Draft, according to Elliotte Friedman of CBC Sports.
What do you think about this and how credible do you think this is? I mean I love luke Schenn, but if he can land us Nail, we should do it. I think Burke is heading in the right direction with this team.

Would Nail be our target or would swapping picks in the a Nash Trade be the idea ?

I like Schenn and don't really want to trade him but I have to think he would not be quite enough to get the deal done.

That likely still wouldn't be enough.

But I can part with another top end youngster on top of Schenn and our 1st if that would seal the deal.

There has to be something worthwhile coming back to us along with the 1st. Schenn to move up just 4 spots doesn't seem like a move Burke would do.

I love Schenn, I would prefer we moved someone like Franson or Gunner instead.

Yukapov is coming back, that's worthwhile. Schenn's shine is gone. He is what he is. A top 4 at best, hardly anything to cry about.

Would be hell of a draft for the Oilers if they can get Schenn and one of Murray/Forsberg/Dumba.

I doubt the articles credibility though. Just seems like speculation.

I seriously doubt Schenn has enough value to be the lone piece here. So it all depends on what else we'd have to give up.

Have to say I haven't thought of that. We acquire the #1 pick only to move down by swapping picks with CLB as part of a package for Nash...

Would cost us a lot but would guarantee we end up with our #1C and Nash. I seriously doubt we'll do this but if there's a GM who's got the stones to make it happen, It's Brian Burke.

Even though I love Schenn I'd do this deal, we now have enough depth on D so this wouldn't hurt us as bad as it would've before.

We still might have to add though

Elliotte Friedman is one of the better sources out there, so I'd think this is true.

first off do you think Burke is stupid enough to do this. Second, our pick is not ideal for edmonton, i could see them trading there pick for a player and the 2nd-3rd pick or 7th-8th pick. Also at our position i highly doubt murray will still be available.

Lets hope this happens so we have something to get excited about. I don't think burke would trade up for 1st just to draft yakupov when we don't really need more wingers. I think if he does trade for first, he'll try and get another pick in the top 10 (Anaheim + schultz deal?) and then draft a center.

Reinhart was a defencemen they like according to Edmonton scouts.

No I don't.

It doesnt take a ****ing fortune to move up 4 spots in the draft. Schenn is overpayment.

Just because Schenn was drafted top 5 doesn't mean that's his value today.

And that means you understand trade value better?

If anyone thinks Schenn + 1st isn't even close, they need to get a grasp on reality. No team blows their nuts off to move up 4 spots.

Yakupov is in a tier of his own in this draft. 4 spots makes a considerable difference. I've never wanted Schenn gone, especially with his value as low as it is right now, but if Burke can pull off the 5th + Schenn for Yakupov, I wouldn't look back for a second. I really doubt Edmonton would pull the trigger on that though.

But Tambellini is an idiot.
