That's acceptable - pretty much market value. I'm not sure he's quite worth that, but I understand the situation factors.

Nothing to celebrate over, and nothing to fret about.

Doesnt seem like a steal by any mannor but I'm sure he could have gotten more for longer from someone else.

I'm okay with the hit, would have preferred a shorter deal, but if Boston gets into some sort of salary trouble I'd think Kelly at 3m is a very tradeable player so it's nothing to be worried about really. Like Campbell, solid signing.

Great deal for both sides. Longevity for Kelly, cap hit for Bruins. Easily worth 3 mill on the open market

He would have definitely gotten $3.5M+ per on the open market IMO, so he took a hometown discount. He was going to be coveted by many teams. I wanted him for the Sabres but unfortunately now another good center is off the market.

Good re-signing for the Bruins. Getting him at a $3M cap hit is a great deal.

Awesome deal, once again echoing my comments from the Campbell thread, as long as there is no really cumbersome NTC,

I don't mind giving Kelly a NTC for a year or so and then a limited one where he gives the Bruins a list f teams. Just no 2 or 3 year fulll NTC

I figured he'd get 3mil+. Would have preferred a 3 year deal, but I'm not complaining. Glad to have "The Cage" back

Question to Boston fans. Does this make Krejci more likely to be available? I've read that Seguin plays better and is more comfortable at center and seeing as he was your top scorer, could he be your first line center next year?

Seguin - Bergeron - Kelly - Campbell is really good center depth and Boston could probably upgrade on wing with Horton being a huge question mark.

Great signing for the B's- was hoping either Kelly or Campbell hit the UFA market and the Wings could pick one up (preferably Kelly) to bolster the bottom 6, but Boston did the smart thing and brought them back at fair value. Really like Kelly's game, would have been a fantastic 3rd C for Detroit.

There's no option for, "Yes I'd like him back, even though this season was a mirage." I don't expect Kelly to put up 20G again, the Bruins were just a juggernaut during a two month stretch in the middle of the season and Kelly's in the perfect situation on the third line with Peverley.

I still would have taken him for 4 years at $3,000,000 per here in Ottawa. He's such a smart, positionally sound, and defensively responsible player, I'm sure many of our younger guys could have learned from. I'm surprised he didn't ask for a 3 year deal to take him to age 34. He could have signed an under 35 contract and maybe cashed in a little more with the disposable pay cheque.

He took a discount, but I wouldn't say he took a hometown discount (Birthplace: Toronto. Drafted by Ottawa). I think he's a very loyal player and knows he's in a great situation with Boston where can really put up some points over the next few years.

Krejci would be the odd man out if were were to trade anyone of any significant trade value.

Is this a joke?

This was a career year for Kelly, while Jones already has back to back 20 goal seasons under his belt, and probably would have had a third were it not for tearing his ACL in 09-10 (10 goals in only 23 games).

Kelly is great at his role, but him and Jones are completely different types of players and suit different styles.

years.
Well who knows what the CBA will be, there may be no such thing as an over 35 deal, or it could be an over 33 deal. Players shouldn't base their future on obscure clauses thta may or may not be relevant when they get there

I doubt Kelley scores 20 again, but then again, I suspect he continues to be in the 15-20 range, so what difference does it make

This will be the talk going into the Draft. Everyone sees the progression of Seguin with less minutes and on the wing rather than center and cannot wait to see him move over to his natural position where he is more comfortable.

Haven't you heard? Everyone is better than Jones now that the Avs retained him.

Good signing for Boston though, they needed to keep him.

Nice. Chiarelli gets both his 3rd and 4th line centers and for great value. If he finds a way to get rid of Thomas's cap hit, I think it's safe to say he's one of the best gm's out there.
