The panoramic is back up....looks like significant work being done to the 10th floor suites on the side, as well as the roof from there. Those are being removed or they will remain? I cant remember
10th floor suites are gone to make room for the upper bowl.
Aren't they supposed to be replacing the floor this summer? Hope they can improve the ice quality.
the ice quality wont matter with a new floor especially when they take the ice out for events like dog shows (cuz if the ice is under the temp floor the dogs know its there and dig), the circus, and monster truck garbage the ice will remain kind of crappy. in places like MTL where they baby the ice its different. the benefit of changing the system being used now is mostly cost efficiency. if it improves ice quality, well, i see maybe only minor improvements. im sure dan craig will be at the garden after the new system is installed to make sure the new system freezes the ice to NHL standards
It appears that the 10th Floor suites are going away but the 9th Floor ones will be remodeled.
NEW GARDEN SUITES (9TH FLOOR) -- Debuting in the 2013-14 season, 18 suites will be completely remodeled.
Yep the 9th floor suites on the 7th avenue end of the arena are staying. The Budweiser Fan Deck is being built above those on the 10th floor next summer.
Yea and If you look near the roof, on the left side, you can see them doing the new work up there since seats will go up higher. Im assuming with the 300s they will cut out all of that like they are currently doing, to set the suites that will wrap around. Once those suites are set, then they will lay the new steel and concrete for the upper bowl.
Limited demolitiion now taking place on lower part 300 level on 31st St. side of building to make way for new suites.
Gotta assume by today the entire 300 level there is demolished, but since he cam is a week behind, its only an assumption. Still going to be cool to see it take shape. Phase 2 will make MSG look completely different compared to last year.

The final phase, is when we see a completely different arena. imo.
The ceiling, scoreboard, lobby etc...all will be different.

Ceiling is staying the same, just being "refurbished" whatever that means. That's about the only thing that will look the same about the arena from before the renovations started.

Also in Montreal, they don't have to deal with an NBA tenant.

I thought they were replacing the ceiling, but it will look extremely similar to how it is now. If you look in some of the renderings, it looks like it won't be wood like it is now.

The ceilings in all the concourses and the main lobby will be replaced

Maybe that's what they mean but it will look similar to what it looks like now. Basically the only thing that will.

I think the biggest change will be this summer. MSG has always been one large seating bowl, and next season is the first year this will change. You won't recognize the inside at all (except the cieling). If anyone hasn't seen high detail renderings of the new upper bowl, I can post some pictures here. Of course the lobby and scoreboard will be completely changed by year 3, but the biggest overall change IMO is this year.
By the way, I know we asked this before, but does anyone have any update on where the TV camera's will be and where Sam and Joe will be broadcasting from? Looking at the seating chart, it seems like the only place they could be is the open space directly in front of Section 224. If that's the case, we would be looking at significantly lower camera angles for the MSG broadcast.

Agreed for sure on the first part, based on those renderings the inside of the arena will look completely different. A very very diff msg than most of us have ever known. To the 2nd part, I am assuming it will be in front of the 200s. Many arenas and stadiums have their broadcast booths in the same level as the suites, and this seems like the only logical spot center ice. Its kind of a pain because I hate watching those low camera angle arenas, it makes me dizzy and nauseas. But I guess it will just have to be something we get used to over time.
Im gonna miss old MSG. Some of my most favorite times were in the 400s. It was so crazy seeing the comparison at games this year. Bring it on though! I love MSG
