there are some sick deals right now for all the canadian posters reading this.
a lot of the equipment is on sale, and some of it is not even marked down in the store but i knew it was on sale from looking online (not all items are online).
anyway, if you spend more than 100, they also give you a 20 dollar gift card towards your next purchase (expires end of july). so when you combine that with the spc card you can save a lot.
Regardless, now is the time to pick up some hockey gear from Sport Chek.
I grabbed two Warrior Hitman sticks from the Sport Chek at Hyde Park and Fanshawe in London. They were originally $189.99 each, marked down to $79.99! I tried them out for the first time on sunday - AMAZING. my shot is around 50% more powerful and a little more accurate too!
I know there are two more sitting on the rack too, plus some CCM u+10s I was thinking of buying.
- That gift card promo is over, you can still use any cards issued within those 6 days until July 31st
- Not that it matters now, but you couldn't combine SPC and the receiving of the gift card as it counts as 2 promo offers
hmm didn't realize it was over. i got my stuff yesterday, so i must have hit it on the last day?
the woman at the cashier told me that i could still use the spc with the card but maybe she misunderstood what i was asking. not a big deal anyway , 20 dollars off will still be sweet when i get my new helmet

a lot of the sales on sticks are just because they are older models and SC is trying to clear out the racks a bit. The two Warriors I picked up are 2 years old and the EQ30s @ $79.99 (which have been on sale for a while - I bought one in March and broke it already) are from last year I believe.
So things will differ from store to store. I had to do some digging to find what I found and a couple of the employees were looking at me like I was nuts. Guess not everyone is as picky when it comes to their twigs as I am.
You could call the store in Niagra Falls and ask them to root around to try and find any Warriors or something that have massive mark-downs on them.
Are those the sale prices on the site? I was looking at the visors and I thought those were the prices they had for them when I checked a few weeks ago, so will they be different if I go in or are they the same as on the site as they are in the store?
hockey monkey has better deals than sportchek sales. its just the canadians are so used to overpriced gear we go nuts whenever the price drops to the normal level in the US
Looks like they have the old price up on the website with the disclaimer that all sports gear is on sale under neath. I want to pick up Bauer x100 replacement lenses..hmm good thing I got that $20 gift card before they stopped giving them away.

Yeah, but by the time you pay the hockey monkey price, + shipping, + border and customs tax it works out to being the same price or in some cases more expensive.
I'm not sure how the border and customs tax works, sometimes I've had to pay it and sometimes I havent.

oh, i was just trying to tell nyqs81 that its not worth driving up from the US to canada to buy hockey gear on sale when you can get it at hockeymonkey at regular price thats just as cheap if not cheaper

interesting sale. compared some prices on the ccm u+ 10... on sale at sport check fro $79.99... regular price at PHL is 99.99... so not that great of a deal imo...

For those who live in border cities like Vancouver (20-30 minute drive to cross border), it's not too bad.
There's a limit on how much you can bring back, so if you don't mind making a few runs for gears under $150 or so, you should be fine. I believe the limit is $75 per person? You could also try your luck and smuggle some gear back if your car has some secret compartments.
But please people, breaking the law is bad, so don't do it

I think reg price at sport chek was 99.99 iirc, some sticks have HUGE mark down, like my Warrior Hitman, where as others are just "meh." The EQ30s are marked down from something like 119.99 to 79.99
For what it's worth, I got an email from SC about their "biggest sale of the season" for Father's Day. Might be worth looking into though they didn't mention hockey or any other sport im particular.
Also remember, SC, Hockey Experts, and National Sports are now all owned by Canadian Tire Corp.

I hope that there's some TAVARES pattern sticks kicking around @ $79.99 that's a steal ;-)
