The Kings, at least on paper, were probably one of the most talented teams of the post-lockout era so far. That's pretty hard to argue against.

I called that they'd at least make a serious playoff push at the beginning of the season and stuck with it. Maybe it was a gut feeling, maybe it was an educated guess, I really don't remember. But it was a huge shock to see them stumble out of the blocks, and while I didn't expect them to dominate like they did at the end of the season, I figured they'd end up being the best team in the league at some point.

And they were.

Seriously. I had to watch some guy on the first line named Esa Pirnes. Modry, Aaron Miller, cloutier. Man we sucked so bad before. Thank god the rebuild is over

I hate to keep this going but if someone told you to make a list of the 5 most talented teams in the NHL at the start of the playoffs, I'd have been surprised if more than a handful of people would have listed LA.

Making the argument now that they're suddenly one of the top teams of the last 6 years on paper.. I don't make that connection at all.

Of the 16 teams remaining?

I'd probably go with:

LA
Vancouver
Boston
New York R.
Chicago/San Jose

In random order.

oh yeah? Pittsburgh, Philly, and Washington wouldn't have gotten any consideration as more talented teams? I think most would have disagreed with you on that point.

Oh, forgot about Philly and Pittsburgh. Washington has the talent, it just wasn't there this year.

Take out Boston and the dual one for those two. LA's still up there for me.

Are you talking post-lockout or the 2012 playoffs?

I feel like you and Alistar are making two different lists.

That was a different point I was trying to make. He was asking about this year, so I answered accordingly.

I mean, honestly though, just look at how deep they are all across the lineup. Remind me a lot of Boston last year, but with more top end talent and, dare I say it, slightly better goaltending.

I'm being really confusing right now, I know. I don't really know how to get across what I want to say though.

Since the Carter and Richards trades, the Kings look way better up front. No doubt. I have a hard time seeing them repeat that kind of success next year, but I also thought Boston was going to be unstoppable again.

Let's just agree that they have a pretty good hockey club and finally turned around their fortunes.

Disagree. They'll never win the cup.

Not to be a dick but it doesn't sound like you're confused it sounds like you're backtracking. Your comment from earlier that I bolded is a pretty stand-alone comment and it says that you think this Kings team is one of the best post-lockout teams on paper.

Well, in his defense, the media has been picking the Kings to do well for quite some time.

They were just a few years and half a dozen trades away from being correct.

I feel the need to point out that if we had offered Doughty a 10 million dollar offer sheet last summer like I wanted none of this would've ever happened.

For both, to be honest. I was originally talking about post-lockout, and then I thought the question was more geared towards this season only so I answered accordingly. Should've made that mot more specific about exactly what I was talking about.

tl;dr They're one of the most talented post-lockout teams to me. I misinterpreted a question and went a little weird with my explanations. My bad.

I lol'd at your tl;dr explanation being nearly as long as the "long" one.

All good dude.

Was tempted to make it longer just to screw with people.
