Los Angeles Championships

In watching the NBC tape, they showed the Coliseum, made me think of all the champions we have had in Los Angeles. Thought I would list them here, because my favorite Los Angeles team just won their first title.

1951 Los Angeles Rams
1959 Los Angeles Dodgers

1963 Los Angeles Dodgers
1965 Los Angeles Dodgers

1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers

1979-80 Los Angeles Lakers
1981 Los Angeles Dodgers
1981-82 Los Angeles Lakers
1984-85 Los Angeles Lakers
1986-87 Los Angeles Lakers
1988 Los Angeles Dodgers
1987-88 Los Angeles Lakers

1999-2000 Los Angeles Lakers
2000-01 Los Angeles Lakers
2001-02 Los Angeles Lakers
2008-09 Los Angeles Lakers

2009-10 Los Angeles Lakers
2011 Los Angeles Galaxy
2011-12 Los Angeles Kings

Glad you didn't count the 2002 Anaheim Angels.

Off the top of my head you need to add the Galaxy's 2002 and 2005 titles. Also, didnt the Los Angeles Raiders win in 1983?

Anaheim has had two championships, actually...but the Angels are not part of Los Angeles, no matter what their new owner says. Just like the Ducks are not.

I am going to enjoy going to the Kings/Ducks games next year at the Honda Center wearing my SCC gear.

You are right, I forgot the Raiders.

And the earlier Galaxy title (there were two?).

That is what happens when you try to do credible research at 3 a.m.

Wot, no LA Sparks love?

Those Sparks banners will need to be moved (removed?) at Staples. We are going to need the real estate.

The WNBA is a joke that loses money every year and is forced upon the NBA by David Stern, who really needs to go after he decided to **** the Lakers with that moronic Chris Paul decision last season.

The Sparks didn't even cross my mind, to be honest.

What sports are we considering for this? L.A. Blades (roller hockey, defunct league) had 19931997; 1999 championships.

The flip side to this is that my daughter's become interested in basketball, having watched a Lakers game and wants to play. Once I mentioned that there's a women's basketball league, she was excited. We'll likely be going to a Sparks game (or more if she ends up liking it).

I'd like to see the WNBA succeed, though it seems difficult.
