You havenít heard about this from the mainstream media, and Sabres President Ted Black bristled when I asked him about it at last nightís Sabres New Media Summit, but I have it on very good authority that Tyler Myers underwent knee surgery at a local medical facility on May 23rd.
The Sabres star defenseman was hampered for most or all of this past season by a lingering knee problem that felt worse in some games than others.
Myers was told following the surgery that the source of the discomfort was found and cleaned up.
Thereís no reason to believe that this amounted to more than a minor procedure, and itís anticipated that Myers will be 100% ready to go for training camp.
He looked a lot slower this year. I attributed it to the mass he put on last offseason - while that could still be a factor, I'm guessing the knee had a bit to do with it too. Between this and the wrist, it's no wonder he had a "down" year. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a long-term issue.
Here's to hoping Myers breaks out in a big, big way next year.
Ditto to the above. Let's hope Myers stays clear of injuries and bounces back in a big way this year. If we can get our Tylers to stay healthy next year, we're already a better team than last, imo, even if we make zero trades in the off-season.
