Choose your own draft week adventure!

Hello HF Stars denizens!

I have come to you with a wonderful poll now that the dreaded Los Angeles Kings led by Dustin the Diver has won El Stanley. This is where we shall speculate what happens in the coming week before draft day.

"With the majority of team executives/general managers/scouts leaving for Pittsburgh on Sunday. Trade talks are going to start heating up heading into next week."

We stand pat, pick young kids who need 3-4 years to develop in junior/minors.

Rendering the draft having no impact on the team till 2017.

sending us to the abyss of the areas of the bottom 5 teams in the NHL.

I wanted to pick the roster player option since I'm sick of Ott, Morrow, and Robidas, being part of this pitiful leadership core. I picked the one where pieces of importance get moved, but no real roster players. I really hope I'm wrong.

don't we have a habit of making some useless trade in the lower rounds of the draft?

meh, hoping one of Morrow/Otter/Ribs/Robi gets moved at/before.

I expect Ribeiro and/or Robidas to be gone by the end of the draft. I would be surprised if Morrow or Ott are traded before the start of the season

I'd be a bit mad if Ribeiro were the only one to go of the old corps this off-season.
He almost certainly has the most trade value, but he's also the least deserving of the boot IMO.
Unless you can get a young center like Johansson, it's a lateral move at best.
If you don't get a center back period, considering how weak the center pool is this FA, Dallas' center depth would be absolutely laughable.

The 1st option seems so very "Stars"; it's hard not to pick that one.

I don't know, I think I'll go with 4. Gaglardi doesn't strike me as being full of hot air and this is one of the main times to make bold moves.

You know this isn't really the Stars' fault, but it's depressing to this point how even after the GM came out and said how much they like the players in the top 50 this year we still don't have any picks other than our own allotted to us. The one time we actually make a selling trade it backfires in our faces to the biggest possible extent.

no doubt. Who would have expected Phillys pick to end up earlier than the kings

I want a couple of roster players gone but don't buy it actually happening. Voted they'd move minor bit players like a Wandell/Bachman but not Morrow, Ott, or Robidas.

GMJM is going to have to make me a believer. I'm not convinced this roster looks entirely different come September.

Voted "One or two roster players moved plus smaller pieces." I'm ready to sell Ribs, Robi and Morrow to get younger and faster.

This is related to the OP's poll. Will you guys be happy if the Stars make their selections at the draft but no players are moved? Assuming they don't reach terribly off the board at 13 but do nothing to change the current roster is that an acceptable outcome in Pittsburgh?

No, I would be downright furious if nothing happens.

I'd love to know what Joe average non-internet fan would think vs. hard core guys who post here. I'm in the same camp as you guys but have resigned myself to expect nothing so I don't get my hopes up again. Encouraging words from Gagliardi don't mean much to me right now.

Agreed. I'd love to have my hopes up with Gaglardi now at the helm, but no way am I letting it get up there. Expecting nothing at all. If something happens, delighted I will be.
