I'm leaning one of these towards these two forwards

Quote:
MARTIN FRK
POSITION: Right Wing
SHOOTS: Left
TEAM: Halifax (QMJHL)
BORN: October 5, 1993
VITALS: 5’-11.5” / 205 Lbs
STATS: 34 GP 16 G 13 A 29 PTS 41 PIM
SCOUTING REPORT: A goal scoring, physical forward. His feet are not fast by any
means but they are strong—he has good balance and an ability to battle through
checks with his impressive power game. His skating is choppy and short; he gets very
little out of it in terms of speed or explosiveness. His offensive instincts are great, and
he often finds open scoring areas in the offensive zone. His shot is NHL ready, and
amongst the best in his draft class. His release is very quick and often fools opposing
goaltenders with how it explodes off his stick. His puck skills are very high-end, though
sometimes he gets caught trying to do too much and ends up giving the puck away. He
has pretty quick hands in close and used this to score in tight. In the defensive zone he
can lose his man and looks to just wander around aimlessly. He works hard along the
boards, especially in the offensive zone, and certainly has a physical edge to his game.
His overall mobility and agility still needs to be improved and that’s the main thing
holding him back from the first round.
NHL POTENTIAL: Top six goal scoring forward

Quote:
HENRIK SAMUELSSON
POSITION: Centre/Right Wing
SHOOTS: Right
TEAM: Edmonton (WHL)
BORN: February 7, 1994
VITALS: 6’-2” / 200 Lbs
STATS: 28 GP 7 G 16 A 23 PTS 42 PIM
SCOUTING REPORT: A big, power winger with some offensive ability. He is the son
of former NHLer Ulf and plays the game on the same line his father crossed so many
times before. He skates with heavy boots and a choppy stride but gets to where
he needs to and has some decent balance. His skating will improve as he adds leg
strength and lengthens his stride. He is physical and willing to both take a hit and dish
one out. He is strong on the wall, as well as down low, and uses his size to his advantage
by protecting the puck and forcing his way through seams. He seems to be a
bit hesitant offensively after coming over mid-season from the Swedish Elite League
where his father coaches. He drives the net and plays with an edge that NHL teams
love. He has a quick stick and a decent shot that make him dangerous below the circles.
He shows a willingness to come back into his own zone, but he can be lazy in that
regard at times. He isn’t really a natural fighter, but will go if provoked. His questionable
offensive upside and skating deficiencies are the only weaknesses that keep him
from first-round consideration.
NHL POTENTIAL: Third line two-way forward.

Isn't it nice to have possession of the 30th overall pick?

Ulf's kid huh? Two things stand out here: 1) He was born in 94, so he wasn't even alive for the 93 run. 2) Good size and PIMs, I like it!

The best part about the draft is going to be all of those team execs/GMs walking up to the podium and congratulating the LA Kings for their Stanley Cup victory.

If Deano doesn't land Phil DiGiuseppi, I'm going to be pissed. Going to be a good NHLer for sure and will hopefully be available at our spot. Plus losing Jack means we have no former Michigan players and that makes me sad.

Wait why do we get the 30th pick ? I mean damn how rigged is this, typical east coast bias, Kings finally win the Cup and they somehow have us picking 30th, what kinda BS is that ... I think the FIX was is, I mean I didn't even see our Kings name on one of the ping pong balls ... typical Bettman hatin' on us ... Boooooooooo !

NOTE: yes it's a joke

gotta figure at least one numbnuts out there doesn't know, right ?

Similarly, Columbus has up to two picks before the Kings to decide whether or not to keep the Kings first round pick, or to take the 2013 pick. Again, I would be shocked if the Blue Jackets didn't defer to next year.

As stated, NJ kept their pick. To me, it means one of two things. They either have a deal in place and the other team wants this pick or there's a guy the fully expect to be available at 29 who they are very high on. To me, Jerz picks Vasilevski and has their franchise goalie for the next 20 years.

As for CBJ, you never know. Considering we just won the cup, we are most likely favorites next year in the minds of some. If Howson feels there is someone available at 30 that he likes a lot, he could take the pick this year. It wouldn't shock me in the least if he does take it and possibly use 31 with 30 to move up earlier or snag two guys who are fringe 1st rounders that he likes.

But yeah, if we keep the pick DiGi or bust.

New Jersey has probably looked at future draft classes and determined it is better to bypass their first round pick in one of those drafts.

Not likely, unless Lou's scouts have a vastly differing opinion than most. The general consensus is that this draft year is a weak one. Despite the pre-year talk of it being strong, pro scouts have said it will be a down year. Next year has had some talk of being compared to 03 in terms of talent and I love the top of the 2013 draft MUCH more than 2012 with guys like Mackinnon, Jones, and Barkov as well as others. You could be right and NJ could see it that way but the consensus seems to be that this isn't a great draft year

Cap circumvention when they signed Kovalchuk.
