I have ZERO comprehension when tards like to suggest trading Greene and inserting a young D.
Not that Jack was the most punishing defenseman we had, but now without him Greene is really the only D that is tough around the D.
He's a badass 5/6 D and spends a ton of time on the penalty kill sacrificing his body at every turn.
The guy is a warrior and a leader on this team.
Not to pull the "I have played hockey all my life and it's clear that you haven't ever laced up a pair of rental skates so I know more than hockey than you!" card, but people who think we need to dump Greene have ZERO freakin' clue.
No need to attack the guy for making a suggestion.... You're right though, Greene is key if you want a beast in the playoffs....

so true. Greene is the ideal bottom-pairing defenseman. We'd all love him to cut down on penalties, etc, but he brings things no other does to this team.
Look around the league at 5-6 defensemen and let me know if there's someone you'd have in his place. Hell, for better or worse, Greene would be second pairing on a lot of teams.

League leader in hits by a defensemen, or at least was leading a few weeks ago.
I think most that are saying trade him are assuming a Brown trade as well that brings back a similar player, i.e. Schenn. Greene has value and I know Islander fans have inquired on numerous occasions.
Don't underestimate DL and his desire to find a tough, physical d-man. That was supposed to be Teubert who took over for Greene; now there is nobody.
I would really like to see a bag of pucks come back for one of these just to send a message.... Plus, it would be fun trivia. Or maybe just a gift certificate to IHOP....
Penner for sure. Stoll, as big of a dosappointment as he has been this year, at least you can't question his work ethic. He's been out of position much of the year and he's still doing better than Penner numberswise, plus he can take a draw.
Yeah, it was a great response by Willie...just goes to show you, no one ever knows...in his case, he didn't even need to sign an extension for what he wanted!
He looked great holding up that cup last night. Even from my bleeders I could tell he was overjoyed.
And what an outstanding decision to put Mitchell and Gagne 2 and 3 to carry the Cup...I was actually expecting the two "A"s next...Pierre LeBrun tweeted "Perfect" for that decision by the Kings...just another class act by Brown and the Kings.
Great news, Mitchell is awesome. Consistency and discipline are essential in a good defense and are traits that both Mitchell and Scuds have in spades. They were HUGE in making our D as stingy as it was all year long, and they only got better in the playoffs.
It is great to remember that Mitchell is here for another two years. Stabilized the entire defense when he arrived and we are just a pure better team with him than without him.

Voynov is going to learn that much more with Willie by his side. Willie rules.
I remember it clearly; the day Mitchell signed his extension and said his quote about wanting to win a Cup, Seventyx7 said to me on the way to the game that this was the turning point for the team. Having Mitchell take less than he could have made on the open market to stay with the team that he said had the best chance was great reinforcement for everyone on the team.
