This. Can't get my mind around the fact that some are nit picking this hire. The point of having a guy in Hamilton is to try him out. Give him a chance before you shoot him down: he's never coached a professional game (as a head coach, that is). He very well could work out and become a sensation.

Having an ex-pro dman at the helm of the Bulldogs is a great idea, considering all the young guys coming up in the next few years. He'll prepare them physically and mentally to the life of an NHL player.

Clearly, it doesn't seem like we know much about him.
He's most definitely a yeller, I'm an Avs fan as well and I know for a fact that he got into shouting matches with some of the players quite often. I'm afraid his antics will take a toll on our kids in Hamilton.

I like this not one bit a whole lot. He's a passive yeller and a great motivator who lacks the ability to inspire.

Personaly i'm mainly going by what I've seen of him in interviews and how he played the game. Maybe he's a psycho in real life, who knows.

Strange that no other news outlet is reporting this...

http://www.rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/340364.html

A little outdated, but he said himself he would remain with the Colorado Avalanche. Maybe he changed his mind?

Being a yeller isn't enough to warrant worrying. If he's got a good philosophy, is organized and a good teacher, he can yell at the kids all he wants.

His work with Avs D doesn't really give me much confidence. Yelling isn't a bad thing by deaufalt (I played pro sports so I know it can help sometimes), but if you're yelling just for the sake of yelling, that's a different story. IMHO yelling is a tool that can/should be used to reinforce the message you're trying to send, but if you can't get your point across without having to yell all the time you're obviously doing something wrong.

I was thinking Washington Capitals knocked on the door personally... We'll see when it's confirmed.

Yea, but let's not exaggerate. You make it sound as if he had a yelling addiction.

Good, really good addition.
Still, that's certainly not the nomination I expected.

I'm not saying he yells all the time, but there's been some rumors he goes over the top sometimes.

Not worth worrying over imo. Anyways, time will tell. I don't care if he goes over the top as long as our kids learn good things.

So EJ played with O'Brien who's a trainwreck waiting to happen and was forced to clean up SOB's mess, insted of focusing more on the offensive side of the game while playing good defensively. So Avs whole top 4 was virtually of no help to their offense because of this personnel decisons (it's still mindboggling to me that O'Reilly and Landeskog managed to get that much points depite having Hejda and ROB as the defensive pairing that was most on the ice alongside them). Quincey did good offensively for the 1st 20 games or so, but after that he played like crap offensively (he was his usual turnover and bad penalty taking machine from the get go) as usual, he always starts the season hot and then gets cold after the 20 game mark.

Great to have him in the organization.

But I thought the Habs would hire him as assistant-coach in charge of D-men in Montreal - the same job he had in Colorado.

I guess the Habs want to really help the many young d-men they gonna have in the next while down there in Hamilton.

Didn't the Hamilton media not ask for an English speaking coach first?

Obviously Jodoin isn't seen as future coach material for the Habs. Would you say he did a great job in Hamilton?

Did you ever actually watch him play?????

He was far from soft as he was a very good fighter when the occasion arrived and was a shot blocking/crease clearing machine.

He was a bigger version of Gorges........do you not like the way Gorges plays?

Hope this means no more Ron Wilson in Hamilton, thought they might make a coaching change.
