Who will bust in the top 10 of the 2012 draft?

Seems almost every draft has at least one bust in the top 10. Who will be the James Sheppard of the 2012 draft. Please guess someone who has a very good chance of being drafted in the top 10.

I'm going to say Jacob Trouba, not sure why, its just my gut feeling

Faksa if he's drafted that high IMO.

EDIT: and I don't think there's anybody on this website more critical of Jacob Trouba than me, and I've seen a decent amount of him, but I don't think he'll bust. He'll either be effective and consistent or just a bottom pairing pylon.

oh gawd, James Sheppard!! i hope none of the top 10 teams end up with another of that guy, but if i had to pick a player, i'd say Teuvo Teravainen, if he's taken in the top 10 and doesn't fall to, say, #11 or #12. he's got talent, but he's on the small side.

wouldn't be surprised if Cody Ceci snuck into the bottom of the top 10 and Trouba was bounced out.

Well, in his defense, James Sheppard's injury woes have more to do with his being a bust, than lack of skill/size/hockey sense.

Anyways...I am going with Teuvo Teravainen. has all the skill and speed needed for a top 6 job in the NHL...but can he handle the grind? he could be the next Jiri Hudler or the next Mattias Tettenby. I guess we'll see!

^ this

Trouba seems like a guy who may end up playing a ton of NHL games but never becomes a top 4 guy.

Faksa seems like he could become a Martin Hanzal type but doesnt really scream top 10 pick to me.

With so many D-men projected in the top 10, I think there is a good chance we'll see at least one bust. Their development seems to be so hard to predict.

Dumba and Galchenyuk are the biggest risks IMO.

To bust? I'll have to disagree.

I think it'll be Faksa.

Grigorenko and Galchenyuk... between them i choose grigirenko, its better not play at all because of an injury than to pull disappearing acts like grig did in playoffs
ps. and i expect a huge comedown towards yakupov next year because he is simply not so good as these boards make him be

I also have a bad feeling about Yakupov but I'm going to say Teravainen. He is kinda like Marcus Granlund but way overhyped. I'll be surprised if he goes in top10.

I could really see Dumba flopping.

I think the days of the high-profile bust are behind us.

The last really high-profile bust we've seen is Filatov. But it really wasn't as if teams didn't understand his bust-potential. After all, both Toronto and NYI had the 5th pick and passed on him. That was pretty telling.

2010 still has a whole bunch of question marks. For example, there were questions about Connolly and Niederreiter, and those questions remain. But I don't think anyone thinks these guys won't at least be third liners.

I see this draft as similar to 2010. There's questions about the ultimate value of some players, but barring someone going to the KHL, I don't see the bust-potential. Certain things could happen. Galchenyuk could stall in his development. Forsberg could be a third liner. Murray could be a offensively limited #4. Dumba could be a risky player given limited ice time at even strength. Etc.

On the other hand, if Victor Kozlov was a bust then half the top-10 will probably be one too.

Cheers,

Dan-o

No, Sheppard was busting long before his atv accident...trust me! His lack of skill, and even more so when it comes to hockey sense has everything to do with it!

In fact, the Wild had considered walking away from him completely instead of giving him a qualifying offer just that summer. He then had his infamous atv accident a week before that training camp.

Ma Granlunds skillset not even close compared to Teuvos. Markus turned 18 two months before he was drafted, still not being able to play in FEL in hes draft year. Teuvo turns 18 3months after he will be drafted and has already proven that he can play with men.

You should learn to use common sense and start thinking outside of the box.

Anyways im going to say Yakupov, he's gimped version of Kariya, he just can't keep that head up.

Whoever is drafted by the CBJ. That franchise had so much bad luck, it wouldn't surprise me.
