In other news, these "experts" have 1:60 odds of looking like idiots with their predictions.

Well here's your chance to make them look like idiots. Put a lot of money on the odds for which they're so wrong.

People don't seem to understand how odds work.
They're not saying they're sticking to these odds until the end of next season, or even until the end of the month.

They're saying that at this point in time, those are the odds that they believe in. If you think they're wrong, that's when you bet.

The fact that a lot will happen over the summer is completely irrelevant. After the draft, or free agency period or whatever, the odds will change to account for those things.

James Reimer is gonna win the Vezina and then put on a Quick-like performance in the playoffs and end the Leafs drought. Don't forget that Jake Gardiner is the new Drew Doughty.

Since so much WILL change, what's the point of publishing these current odds? Maybe they should reveal the odds of the 2014-2015 season too?

Edit: OK, I get it. My bad. Those odds are actually from a betting place, not from some journalists, a la TSN predictions. I didn't want to check the article because thought it was just click bait.

It's probably cause the Leafs defense is Top 5 in the league...on paper...

This is the time to make the big bucks if you have a couple hundred sitting around. Obviously the odds will go down if you wait for the final rosters. That being said, I wouldn't bet the house on the Habs next year.

Now I'm really tempted to make a $50 bet. $3000 if Habs win the Cup. That would a more than awesome day.

10 bucks on each team means you just need a team with higher than 30-1 odds to win.

You can even eliminate some teams like Columbus, Islanders, Oilers and others people feel aren't going to make it.

Interesting.
those odds are pretty much just representation of the past season. Odds will change over time until season starts. then change some more.

There is no strategy that the odd makers have not thought about.

Sens at 40:1 seems like a pretty damn good bet.

Let's say NJ's odds are 10:1. If they win, you lose money with your strategy.

Wrong.

Drew Doughty is the new Jake Gardiner.

I am willing to be the house for any fool willing to make the bet on Montreal. I'll give 70:1 odds.

Just as a point of interest, that is only for Canadian teams. The Isles, Wild, and Bluejackets are 75:1.

Would be a nice gamble to put down 500$ on the Habs.

60:1 seems fairly accurate.

There are 30 teams on the NHL. They haven't played a game this season. As of right now, our chance shoud be 30:1.
