St. Louis And Washington Swap Players Rights

St. Louis acquired the rights to forward Alexander Semin today from the Washington Capitals in exchange for the rights to defensemen Barret Jackman.

Jackman has served St. Louis well in his tenure with the Blues but we feel it is time to move on and start a new era in St. Louis. We think that Semin could be a very good fit here in St. Louis and are excited to add a player with the star power Semin has.

He could still be traded, pretty much the same as an impending UFA. He cannot sign until July 1st in real life I believe.

I thought I saw McKenzie say somewhere he cannot sign until July 1st. Schultz is also a NCAA player, while Rensfeldt was not. That could be the difference. Didn't Wheeler have to wait as well?
