That pretty much goes for all UFA's. Unless the offers really wow them, they will go to Free Agency. It's nothing personal.

Isles acquire Murray from Sharks

The New York Islanders shored up their blueline today, acquiring shutdown defenceman Douglas Murray from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for prospect Casey Cizikas.

"We feel that, as an organization, we're getting very close to the point where we can be a very good team in the NHL, and compete for a Stanley Cup. With all our young players, we need experience, leadership, and responsible play. Douglas brings all of that, and we're thrilled to add him." Isles GM TribalPhoenix stated in a conference call today.

"This club has been building a prospect base, and it is starting to pay dividends. We beleive this to be a time where we take the next step and bring in players who can help us win now."

Looking for a #1 goaltender, preferably someone younger who can grow into the role.

Also looking for top 4 defensemen.

Assets available are Brett Connolly, the 10th or 19th overall as well as our three 2nd round picks and most prospects.

Confirm. We like and respect Douglas and wish him all the luck in the world with the Islanders, we just don't believe that he fits in with the Sharks' system anymore. We think Casey Cizikas is a great prospect that has shown a lot of promise in the AHL. We hope for him to center the 3rd line as soon as next year.

Welcome to the Sharks, Casey!!

Trade

Rene Bourque

DAL 2nd Round Pick 2012

Stars are happy to bring in a top 6 winger in Bourque. He is bound to succeed here on either Benn's, or Ribeiro's wing.

BOURQUE TRADED TO DALLAS

The Montreal Canadiens have traded forward Rene Bourque to the Dallas Stars for their 2012 2nd round pick.

We would like to wish Rene the best of luck in Dallas. With the emergence of Louis Leblanc, along with other young players, we felt that a trade was the best option for Rene and our team.

We announce that we have placed Rick DiPietro on waivers. If unclaimed, he will be sent to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL.

St. Louis is waiting for a few messages about potential trades before pulling the trigger on any. Rumors are they are really close to a trade to acquire a third line center but are looking a bit bigger before making that move.

The Colorado Avalanche are thrilled to announce that they have locked up center Jay McClement to a 4 year deal that will pay him $3.5 million annually, the deal also features a limited no-trade clause. The Avs would also like to announce that they have made McClement one of their alternate captains. "We're expecting big things from Jay." said Avs GM stempniaksen "He's one of the best 3rd line centers in the league, and having him around our youngsters to set an example will pay dividends."

Looking to package JVR, Jakub Voracek, Sean Couturier, my 1st round pick for a top-6 winger or top pairing defenseman! All my prospects are available too.

Actually, everybody is available except for Giroux! PM me with offers!

3.5M for Jay? A lot to pay for a third line center.

I think he will definitely be getting around that in real life.

I would say 3 per but 3.5 is not a huge overpayment.

If anyone pays more than 2.5M for McClement, I think they'll end up regretting it. He's a 3rd/4th line guy and isn't worth that much, in my humble opinion.

I think he could put up 30-35 points and be one of the best PKers in the league. It's more than I originally offered, but I didn't want to lose him either, and the Avs have enough cap space to overpay him by 500k if they absolutely need to.

That they do. One of the few teams that can afford to overpay for him is the Avalanche so if he's vital to your club, then overpaying a bit isn't that big of deal. I just think that someone other than the Avalanche with not a ton of cap space might regret signing him to a deal like that.

$3.5 is a lot. This is coming from an Avs fan.
