It's been interesting reading these Yak general discussion threads, in particular how the overall mood of them have run the gamut from total jubilation at the start, to what is all but the reception after a funeral now.
"Yeah, the sandwiches aren't bad...but I'm finding it hard to enjoy them, y'know?"
****, if we go ahead and pick Ryan Murray 1st overall and have MacGregor try to shamelessly sell it like he honestly thought he was the BPA, or have to endure Burke's smug face strutting up to the podium to use his freshly-traded-for 1st overall pick to make Yakupov a Leaf, I think I may end up clubbing baby seals by the end of it.
It just seems like we are believing that Burke/East media is trying to sell us a Rolex by displaying one from the lining of his jacket.
He doesn't 'really' own Schultz rights and doesn't have permission to speak to him, can't guarantee he would sign with us anyway. Surely our management isn't that dense. Gardiner (sp) MIGHT help Schultz make up his mind, but we don't even know if Gardiner is on the table. And we do not know who the first 4 picks would be.
If they don't pick Nyeelovupff then they must be geniuses, or gamblers, or idiots. Might take a while to find out.
Regardless there is no way our fans should boo anyone, let alone a kid. grrrr.
He clarified that as the best guy for the next 15 years. They very well could think that is Murray, or someone else other than Yak.
How much should a team worry about 10-15 years when you only get the player for 7 years before he goes UFA?
It's probably true that having had the player for 7 years helps you to retain him into his UFA years, but it's not a certainty, and arguably less of a certainty than accurately projecting which player will be better for years 1-6 while the other will be better for years 7-15
Okay, am I the only one that wants to draft yakupov just so we can watch his goal celebrations. Seriously if that kid scores in the first period the other team mine as well just give up because his intensity just gives you all the momentum just like Hall.
I can already envision tsn yapping about how the oilers will run into cap problems after Oil draft yaks(assuming the management team arent idiotic like we think)
Bulin Walls 5 or something...
These plus the cap space already available will eventually be used to resign the kids..plus a defender or two and whatever it will be to resign Smid, Petry, etc..
Maybe theres also a slight discount the stars of the team may take to build a true dynasty, like I could see Hall, Ebs, and RNH, and hopefully Yakupov taking 6.0 mill cap hits instead of 7 if that means they have a stronger supporting cast..its all part of being the leaders on the team, putting team first and thinking multiple championships..
I mean its 6 mill a season, thats already an insane amount of money, if the player wants to leave over a small difference then he can be traded for very valuable assets..
I personally see Hall, Ebs, RNH, and Yakupov as all very team oriented guys.
