After reading this article I am excited on what kind of influence Lapointe can have on a youngster like Leblanc

He didn't want us so many times before, why should we want him now? This is crap. Another friend of Bergevin gets a job. Great.

Anyways he was happy about all of the Habs moves so far this off season but he really didn't get this one. He really doesn't like him
Maybe Chris also did a few things in his youth he regrets?

nice interview with him in french on TVA today. said he was happy to be here, fulfilling a boyhood dream...and actually talked about choosing Bruins in 2001 and how he may have made wrong decision in choosing b's over habs
he said his parents gave him a lot of grief about it at the time but they're happy he's home

I get less and less excited with each new hire.

They kind of leave me indifferent. Yes, it's more inexperienced Bergevin buddies, but at the same time, these low-end positions really aren't going to have an impact commensurate with the media attention they are getting. Well, with the exception of Lefebvre as heir apparent, obviously, which looks like a good move even though Lefebvre hasn't been a head coach yet.

The real issue I think is Bergevin being done now and his front office being very short in business/numbers knowledge. And I mean neither "selling the game" nor "advanced stats here", I mean basic asset valuation, risk-reward calculations, and capology, all vital GMing skills that should be held by someone with major influence on the decision-making.

The inner circle right now looks to be Bergevin, Dudley, Carriere and maybe Mellanby, with Dudley looking like the most influential figure. I'm not really a fan.

But Lapointe as director of player development? Meh. If he basically listens to Timmins he'll do fine.

If he does a good job, who cares? Should Bergevin be hiring guys he doesn't like or know?
