Are you OK with this if Ribeiro agrees to a contract extension before the trade? The Ducks can't exactly have Getzlaf, Perry, and Ribeiro as all UFA the same off-season.

Before, no.

After and it's not our problem.

I would imagine his value increases by quite a bit if there is an extension.

Id hate to see ribs go, especially to a div opponent.

But i think Holland + 36th would be a good deal.

Please tell me you're referring to realignment, not relocation...

Yeah, that's why I wanted to bring it up. I think the Ducks would make the trade if they first reached agreements with Perry and Getzlaf. That way they only have to worry about Ribeiro.

What would you guys want Anaheim to add if Ribeiro agreed to an extension?

Quite a bit. I don't really know, to be honest. DSP would probably have to be talked about, at least.

Let's forget the contract extension.

Ribeiro for Holland and 36th overall.

If the Ducks can't sign Getzlaf and Ribeiro, they could always trade one of them at the trade deadline.

Sounds fine to me.

Also, I'm not sure how it works, but he can't sign an extension before July 1st, can he? So that'd be impossible anyways.

That's correct. The trade would likely happen after July 1. But I use the term "likely" loosely. It's very unlikely Ribeiro ends up in Anaheim, but I think he would be on Murray's list of potential #2 centers. I wouldn't have made this trade if I didn't.

Then why would we get 36th overall...?

Or are you referring to one with an extension?

Was referring to the one with an extension, I figured the assets would be different. I should have communicated that better.

But Holland and the 36th overall at the draft is fine from Anaheim's POV.
