That's the only reason I would take it seriously.

Bob is better than Budaj but since both will only be playing in a backup position which means 20 games if that i don't see why the Habs would do it.
Both are ufa after next season.
I don't see why the Habs would bother wasting the extra 650 thousand for BoB.
Also why would Philly trade down?
Makes sense for neither team.

Bob would be RFA, no?

Yes Bob a RFA while Bud would be UFA.
Either way it makes no sense for either team.

I don't know. The Flyers were a good team and Bob still couldn't make a save.

After Price retired for the season, Budaj stepped in and looked great for a backup, which sucked, cause we wanted to lose.

No way in hell would the Flyers do that straight up. Habs would have to add quite a bit and even then, I don't think the Flyers would have any interest in Budaj in the first place.

Do we have to diss Eklund every single time he says something? We get it, he's usually wrong.

Add quite a bit.
Why would the Habs even consider it in the first place.

What the hell? That's like trading your 1st round pick straight up for a 6th round pick

I call complete BS. The Flyers could easily fetch something good from someone like Tampa Bay or Edmonton.

Budaj is good enough as a backup for Price. Why the Habs need to get Bob? And the Flyers can get more than Budaj if they decide to trade Bob.

How do we know he's always wrong?

He deals with rumors, not breaking trades (although he does that too).

That's the difference between him and Lebrun, Buccigross, Dreger, etc. Those guys only put things up when they are near done deals-- Eklund will put up things even if trade talks have just begun.

I dont think people realize that most trade talks fall through. Only a very small percentage of them actually become a real trade. That's the problem-- everyone expects Eklund's rumors to come true when, by the nature of his job, he'll be wrong way more often than not.

I'm not saying Eklund tells the truth-- I'm just saying that most people dont understand what it is that he actually does. So saying "he's usually wrong" isnt even completely true. It's incredible the rep he has around here even though he has broken major trades and signings in the past.

Don't see why montreal would do this as they dont need Bob. They can trade him elsewhere after if u wanna be technical. Good player with some potential, better off getting some assets of tampa bay or something.

If this has any legs, then A) a pick is also coming back to Philly; or B) Homer is about to spring a major signing and needs every cap dollar he can get for tagging purposes.

Not sure if serious. Are you trying to tell me that you'd rather have Budaj instead of Bobrovsky on your team?

Not sure what he means but for habs Bob won't develop playing 10 games a year and his value to us wouldn't be the same. It only makes sense if we trade him afterwards but philly can do that themselves really.

What i'm saying if you had bother to read the whole thread there is no reason for us to throw out an extra 600 thousand + assets as you suggest for Bob to warm our bench.Understand NOW.

Budaj doesn't belong in the NHL.

He's not a number one goalie but he's definitely a solid back-up in the NHL.

Habs get Bobrovsky and then Bergevin ships him to Chicago to his old buddies

Sign me up, I prefer Bobrovsky to Budaj

Exactly. I normally disregard what he says...unless it is Philly related. He does seem to have contacts in that organization.

I would assume they would be pieces in a bigger deal, as a straight swap seems horribly biased towards MTL. Maybe Weber + Budaj for Bob?
