So Stewart and Desriveaux were let go today. No surprised for Stewart I guess, but what would the experts on this board say about letting go Desriveaux? What does it do to our Canadian ratio? And isn't strange to let him go the day that we finally have 1 spot open with Watkins retirement?
Experts? Explain!
Any possibility, mods, to sticky that one? I know it might not be THAT used but yet again, we never know. It's still might be the only winning team this year....
Reinebold. I'm from Manitoba and he was a complete disaster when he was a head coach with the Bombers. If you're looking for someone to blow up your team he's your guy. Hopefully he won't have to much control as a d-coach but to me I would never want him with the Bombers again. Only Mike Kelly was a more incompetent fool with the Bombers. He's a nice guy, cool demeanour but a no go.
I don't think that's a fair assessment. There have been countless examples where good coordinators just plain suck as a head coach because they couldn't handle the duties of offense, defense and special teams. Some guys are just more suited to be coordinators.
What does puzzle me is the fact that he was a special teams coach in the league, not a defensive coordinator and that in itself is worrisome, not his past experiences as a head coach.

Doug Berry would be someone who I would agree with your assessment, someone who couldn't handle the pressure of being a head coach. I liked him as an asst coach but he wasn't able to handle it as a head coach.
I never found Desriveaux that good TBH, so I'm not really surprised they released him. They'll either add another canadian WR or add a canadian at some other position.
And for Stewart, he's been gradually declining over the past couple years, but I thought he could still bring a veteran presence to the DL. I guess management thought otherwise. I hope they can find someone to replace him. We'll need a speed rusher to go opposite of Bowman.
Already got my ticket for the season opener on July 6th!
Too bad that Bowman is already hurt and will miss a few games. Otherwise, I'm very excited for the revamped defence. Hopefully Cavillio and the offence can have a more consistent year in 2012 than 2011.
Labeled as a RB, But expect him to be our Kick Returner and Wide Receiver for screen passes a la Tim Maypray/Andrew Hawkings.
He was also projected in the TOP 10 Running Backs in the 2010 Draft, where he went undrafted
As for the new 3-4.. Linebacking core we got Emry, Cos & Rod Davis as sure starters. Interesting to see who will get the last position. Probably Brouilette, Ferri or Bear Woods (Dreads, played vs Hamilton for Guzman)
I like Devine. He's small, but very explosive! I think his game is best suited for the CFL, as a kick/punt returner and WR/RB as you said. I think he can make a Thigpen/Owens type impact on this team. Even if he only makes an impact in the return game, that would still be great for the team.
