I would say some where in around both as Turris was a higher pick and had done abit more and Backlund is younger than Campbell.

Backlund doesn't deserve any more than a 1 yr contract, let alone a million dollars. I'm hoping it was Sutter that sucked the offensive life from Backlund, but so far, Backlund is looking like he'll have to bribe the opposition's goalie to score a goal.

2 years ago he looked great, I am willing to write this year off the injuries.

I am one of Backlund's biggest skeptics as you know, but I would give him 1 year in the 1-1.5 million range and a chance to prove himself. If he falters I wouldn't offer more than his qualifying offer next summer.

Ducks parting ways with Niklas Hagman and Jason Blake.

Can't say I blame them.

Rumour has it the Maple Leafs are shopping Schenn to the Oilers.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are rumoured to be shopping defenceman Luke Schenn to the Edmonton Oilers as part of a deal where both teams would swap 1st-round draft picks in this month's NHL Draft, according to Elliotte Friedman of CBC Sports.

The trade would allow the Maple Leafs to move up and select consensus first overall selection Nail Yakupov, a 5' 11'' right wing from the Sarnia Sting.

The Nucks are filing "cut down" arbitration for M. Raymond, as per TSN.

Quote:
Last season, Raymond made $2.6 million and the arbitrator may not award a salary less than 85% of that amount or $2.21 million.

I wonder if we could do this with Comeau? His cap hit would be 2.125

The Devil's won't give up their 1st round pick to the NHL this year, as punishment for the Kovalchuck deal. They had to choose which first rounder to give up between 2011 and 2014, and they'll pick 29th this year.

Really dumb if you ask me. Imagine they don't make it as deep in the playoffs over the next two years (or worse, don't make the playoffs at all) and are forced to give up a mid round pick.

Apparently you can do this if they make more than 1.5 million. TSN said the arbitrator may not award a salary less than 85%, so does that mean they may?

Maybe an arbitrator will award a salary of only 25% lol.

I think this means they will look for a goalie this year aka Subban or trade it for a goalie.

Well there's a goalie in every draft. If they're in a panic this year to find a replacement for Brodeur, they probably shouldn't have waited until he became 40yrs old.

This. I think they're slowly realizing that Brodeur won't last forever.

Yes I know but, trading for a goalie this year (lets say Lehner obviously they have to add) is still better than having a mid pick in 2 years.

Edit: WOW never again shall I post drunk
