I don't know why people think this is a "firing." Technically he's just being released. His position as a 'scout' was obviously just a way to get him to do something while his cheques are being signed.

He'll be closer to home and he'll have two salaries.

After all, I guess that he shouldn't feel too bad about getting fired twice in the same year.
Question about this. I always thought this was true then I got mixed reports when looking it up. Logically, I felt he'd get paid remainder of his contract here AND his new contract but I remember reading that once he leaves his contract here is terminated and he's owed no compensation. Perhaps it's different depending on the situation? I mean, we took Dudley, doubt he gets paycheck from TO. However, we fired Pearn before he was hired, perhaps he got a settlement beforehand?

Since he got "fired", he received a compensation. If we told him to find a new job and he got one, we wouldn't have had to pay anything.

Edit : For Dudley, he basically quit the TML so he's only receiving a salary from the Habs now.

Difference is Dudley probably quit, or they worked out a contract transfer agreement or something.
But yes, I'm pretty there's a clause in the contract of these coaches that if they accept a job somewhere else, they breach their contract and are no longer entitled to their salaries. Would be pretty dumb not to include such a clause especially when most coaches rarely get to live out their contracts.
