The Isles and Edmonton are the two organizations where the 'money is king' rule doesn't apply, the Isles because they play in a ****hole and Edmonton because they're in the middle of nowhere with the average temperature of like twenty below lol.

That brings up another whole topic. It's basically the reason why the NHL doesn't want to go back to Quebec. Sure the building will be sold out every night but no players will want to play there and your stuck with another perennial loser.

Why wouldn't any player want to go ther? Quebec City isn't any colder than Montreal and it's not a bad city. Most players aren't chasing beaches when they pick a city to play for.

Quebec's not remote. Winnipeg is, but they're not a big enough market team to be throwing around crazy money anyway.

No matter how crappy city, if they're contenders and have money, many players are willing to go there.

When those Edmonton's kids mature, many free agents are looking that way.

Yep. The chance to win is the driving factor for most players. If they build a winner up there, UFAs will come.

When those Edmonton's kids mature, they'll be playing for other teams.

That or they won't exactly have money to chase FA's anyway cause it'll all go into their own players.

I hear avatar bet coming this way .

But yeah, that's also possible at least as long as Tambellini is their GM.

I think Edmonton is already at that tipping point. Could you imagine if they were able to sign Zach and Suter then trade the 1st overall or another young player for a top notch goalie? They'd be an instant contender with their young stars. Only I don't see top free agents like Suter or Zach looking at them. They have to look at 2nd tier guys.

Avatar bet?

That would be real stupid on my part to make an avatar bet with someone who doesn't even have an avatar to begin with.

But I digress....

Dude, stop with the empty-spacing style posts. This is frowned upon over here. I know that because I was "told" not to do this anymore.

Ya, but that's not really in the realm of reality. Pretty difficult to convince UFAs you're turning the franchise around when you've picked first overall for three years in a row.

That brings up an interesting point. Anyone know anything about?:

Don't forget how much some singing career Kovy's wife has played a role in his narrowing his choices to NJ and LA. I think they met in college so she's not from the NJ/NY area

I don't either of them going to a Canadian team but that's mainly because both are Americans.

If they were Canadians, Edmonton would have much better chance to get them.

Next year is much better UFA corp, we'll see then how attractive UFA destination Edmonton is. They'll have a lot of cap space, even after raises to Hall and Eberle.

Zach is NOT going to LA. Especially not to a team that ousted his own team.

I think Zach would rather stay in the East coast if push came to shove.

I was just pointing out an example of how much Kovy's wives own career played a role in his decision. Not saying Zach would play for LA.

Yeah she's a dime.

Seriously though, she teaches in NJ so I don't see why she'd be pushing him to leave.

She has a full time job in NJ, and she's from ND originally so she doesn't have a hometown team to go to per say.

Take that info as you will.

Kovalchuk's wife is a model now. Her singing career was never a career, it was some Russian pop group similar to Menudo lol
