Congrats Edmonton - move #1 for Dion Phaneuf and you'll have a top d pairing.

Dallas Stars have signed Jyrki Jokipakka to a 3-year ELC. Jokipakka, 20, had 9 goals and 17 points in 52 games with Ilves of the SM-liiga. Jokipakka was a 7th round pick, 195th overall, in 2011.

Per http://translate.google.ca/translate...26prmd%3Dimvns, Anaheim has signed LW Max Friberg to an ELC. Friberg, 19, had 5 goals and 10 points in 48 games with Timra of the Elitserien, as well as a staggering 9 goals and 2 assists in 6 games at the World Junior Hockey Championships. Friberg was a 5th round pick, 143rd overall, of the Ducks in 2011.

I'll go with 'he's not that good' for $500, Alex.

Perhaps this does not apply to this thread but Sebastian Wannstrom (already signed by the Blues) will move over from Sweden and play in the U.S next season.

In this article he says that he will do whatever it takes to make it to the NHL-squad, but if he ends up starting out in the AHL he will work hard on his development so he will finally make it to the NHL...

He got 43 points in 66 games with St.John's under an AHL contract as a defenceman which is pretty impressive. However I wonder if Florida stole him from the Jets' organisation or was there a mutual agreement between the Panthers and the Jets (maybe the Jets' weren't ready to offer him a NHL contract.)

AHL contracts have no NHL bindings. You can sign a player who is not signed to a 2-way (NHL<->AHL) contract.

I know however there is an unwritten law between NHL GMs that says that you can't steal a player on an AHL contract that isn't playing in your farm system.

After the season DeSantins had in the minors, I don't think that the Jets' organisation wanted to see him go. The Jets should of had the priority in this case. So either DeSantis got "stolen" from Winnipeg by Florida or the Jets weren't willing to give him a two-way contract.

I don't think DeSantis was going to make any headway in the Jets organization at the NHL level -- we're sort of jammed up at D with some prospects in the pipeline they're pretty high on -- so I'd guess it was the latter. Good luck to him, he had a great bounce-back season for the AHL IceCaps after almost not finding a place to play last year.

He's very soft and not very good defensively. In the playoffs, when games were close, he was on the bench.

I heard he'd been offered one, Capgeek is pretty much spot-on, so I'd say this is a done deal.

Various sources on Twitter reporting that the Predators have signed 2011 2nd rd pick Magnus Hellberg, and he'll be moving to NA next season.

Technically not a prospect but the Islanders have signed Jesse Joensuu to a one way deal. Joensuu has spent the last season in Sweden after playing with the Isles before that.

That's good to hear, unlike fellow Swede Jugland who did'nt want to play in AHL. Welcome to North America Sebastian Wannstrom
