Sign him now. 1 year. Small base. Let's see what he can do on the PP.

If we're going to blame Kovalev for something, it should be because he could have altered the future had he signed that contract. My guess is that things would have unfolded quite differently and we could have averted that disaster of a rebuild.
That was three years ago. Before his days with Ottawa and Pittsburgh. And his awful season in the KHL. He's finished. I'd rather have Huet for 750 k.

I'd take him on a 1yr deal, nothing to lose by that. I don't know why some fans are soo quick to dismiss things outright.

I think he would play inspired hockey for the habs.

If it can take off media pressure/attention on our 1st round player, Price & Subban... Why not? At worst, he could do the same thing that Pat Brisebois did when he came back & help younger players on training hard. This guy wouldn't come for the salary...

I would give him a 1mil 1 year deal with a KHL out clause. It will help our PP, and If its doesn't work out no harm done. Ppl were saying Sykora was done as well but he has been a pleasant surprise for the devils this season.

Time to look forward instead of to the past. We already re-cycling the coach, no need to bring back a bunch of past players.

Lol

No GM in the league will touch this floater.... He can play until he's 50 in the RUSSIAN VODKA LEAGUE.

Get real folks Kovalev and Laraque don't make you a playoff team.

End of discussion.

Cut down a dry aged hanging salami from any market anywhere in the world, tell people that it's a hockey player who wants to play in Montreal, and half the people will be in favour of signing it to a contract.

He was useless then, he's less than useless now.

Camp invite, but no contract. Don't want to commit a contract slot / cap money to what now is an unknown quality.

But if he has something left in the tank, might as well burn with us. If.

Apparently, he was in remission from a knee surgery at the beginning of his KHL contract, and he couldn't keep up with the team's desire.

IF he trained well since, he's likely to do a lot better than he did in the KHL.

Plus, we'll have a whole club of "Knee surgery remission"! Markov, Gorges, Kovalev...

hmmmm....veteran presence...

A line of: Plekanec - Eller - Kovalev

Could be a nasty third line.

Wow, this guy is craving for attention. He's done, finished. I mean, Guy Lafleur at 60 skates faster than this floater-formely-known-as-the-artist.

Since when were Eller and Plekanec soft? Because they weren't born in North America?

They are soft players yes. Leblanc has 4 hits less than Eller with 42 games. Eller, 79. You know why they are soft? Because it's not their role on the ice to run people over. They are defensive centers with a slight offensive touch, that's it.

well, considering the media and fans seem to have a say in how to run the habs over last year, pretty smart move to lobby the media/fans
