Ribeiro to Washington has been talked about a lot, Eakin and 16th seemed to be a concensus. Also interested in Ryder.

Rather have 11th, and not sold on Eakin.

Matthew Lombardi
Mike Komisarek or Colby Armstrong/Possibly Korbinian Holzer.

Lehtonen+Fistric+Dal 3rd for Kadri+Bozak+Franson+TML 2nd?

Would take Armstrong as a dump if Leafs want.

I really wonder how Lehtonen would respond to the pressure and media in Toronto. That said, I would consider these Toronto trades in most of their various forms. No Komisarek though. Honestly, those seem like quite a bit to give up for a goalie with one year on his deal. If he doesn't like it in Toronto you could be left with basically nothing in a year or two, unless part of the upside of these deals for you is to remove salary this year to make room for UFAs.

Funny thing is that pretty much all of those pieces are consistent with trying to win and not tank 2013 when added to the rest of the Stars lineup (which is what the OP intended). They all fill pretty legitimate holes and we could go out and find a guy like Harding to lock down goal for a year or two until Campbell is hopefully ready.

I'd only trade Kari if he doesn't want to resign after next season or Jack Campbell is ready to take the reins. I'm not comfortable with Richard Bachman as our starter.

Do any of Chris Mason, Nittymaki, Harding, Biron do anything to mitigate that feeling at least for the short term?

If we don't plan on competing next season, then I'd be okay with Harding or Mason. But, Biron and Nittymaki just suck when they play for extended periods of time.

I'm also not understanding this overhaul thread. The only guys I really want to get rid of are Morrow and Robidas, and to a lesser extent Ribiero. Also, I'd rather trade Campbell than Kari (just my opinion).

I don't get it either.

I just don't see it as smart to trade Campbell. There are still some (minor'ish) question marks about Lehtonen's ability to stay healthy so I'm leery about signing him long term and handing the keys to him for the forseeable future.

The Lehtonen question is a really tough one. They've drafted the guy they hope will be the franchise goalie of the future but he's not quite ready to do the Cory Schneider backup thing, but Lehtonen's deal ends after this year. How long of a deal is Lehtonen going to want to stay in Dallas? Does he want to stay beyond this year anyways? A lot of questions there and while I hate to say it, I've kind of always felt that Lehtonen is a Star in much the same fashion that Richards was a Star. They're not "us" but they played/are playing very well for us.

The Lehtonen stuff worries me as well, which is part of the motivation for the thread. So many important players will be coming off the books in 2013, it isn't hard for me to imagine a scenario:

Team plays well enough to be in the hunt past TD
Team collapses after TD
Many productive players leave for nothing
UFAs don't want to sign for Dallas because of the lack of success and talent
Team needs to rebuild, but doesn't have the pieces to do so quickly

The Stars didn't take a step forward last season, and all signs point to another season of treading water.

I hear you. I just think that we can get the ball rolling on moving forward by trading at least Morrow and Robidas before the season and taking stock of the situation during the season with regards to Ott, Ribeiro, and Lehtonen, all of whom will have the highest trade value of the five near the trade deadline.

Deal. And as an add on, if we add Danault and Crawford, would you add Lehtonen?

If we trade Kari it is to tank, so we would want real assets that aren't goalies.

6th Overall + Cogliano for Ribeiro + Ott?

Honestly, I don't know if the Ducks could afford it or be willing to do it, but would that work as the basis for a deal?

If the team tanks Oleksiak would be an important part of the future, and if the team doesn't tank Oleksiak would be an important part of the future. It would take Schenn/Couturier/JVR, which I can understand being more than the Flyers might want to give up.

Think I would rather have Holland than #6.

I really don't see the Stars rebuilding.

So what about a deal like this?

to
- Mark Giordano
- Mikael Backlund

to
- Mike Ribeiro
- Philip Larsen

Sucks to give up Larsen, but I would do that deal.

No. Not interested in more goalies, Dallas wants top 6 wingers/centers.

Any way we can leave out Gio and Larsen and just do Backlund + for Ribeiro fits our needs better.
