I love how TV execs still feel they need to apologize for on-air cursing when it's already saturated all over the frigging TV, internet, etc. The genie's out of the bottle on that one, people have heard curse words before.
This is going to come off as terrible but so be it;
9/11 is 11 years ago. I really hope if we win our next Cup in 2032 we aren't honoring Vasyunov with it.
Hahaha..I get that you need to move on and that 9/11 was 11 years ago, but it's a nice sentiment at least. Those guys were a big part of an organization and I don't think they were honoring them, just placing a nice hat there as a reminder.
if I'm not mistaken the Kings' mascot is named after that guy Bailey from the 9/11 photo with the hat
Bailey, the mascot of the Los Angeles Kings is a 6 foot lion (6 foot 4 inches with mane included) who wears No. 72 because it is the average temperature in Los Angeles. He was named in honor of the late Garnet “Ace” Bailey who served as the Los Angeles Kings' Director of Pro Scouting for seven years before dying in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Bailey is the Kings' second mascot, the first was a snow leopard named Kingston in 1994.
For the 2009-10 season, the Los Angeles Kings partnered with Carl's Jr. to create a series of videos in which Kings organization members competed against Carl's Jr. organization members. The first installment in which Bailey appears is a spoof on Carl's Jr.'s commercials with Bailey replacing scantily clad actresses.
During the 2011 season, for the November 19 game vs Detroit, Bailey donned a LA Galaxy jersey with Bailey and 72 done in the Major League Soccer markings during the 1st and 2nd Period in recognition of the Galaxy playing the following day in the MLS Cup 2011 at the Home Depot Center.
They point out an important caveat about turnovers, especially for defensemen. While it might look like someone like Zidlicky is a turnover machine, in reality he's possessing and moving the puck a lot more than someone like Salvador, so by nature he'll turn it over more.
