No. I understand that Dubi had a down year, but Thomas and the rest of your D-prospects are little value. It's a late first. Maybe if you offered a slightly less crappy prospect.

I'll throw in a 5th.

I don't know what you expect to get for a 3rd liner and an over-the-hill dman.

The best offer in this thread so far, IMO, is 16th + Eakin for Ribeiro.

It's a long shot they'd both fall probably, but if Dallas could get Girgensons (13th) and Gaunce (16th) they'd finally have some legitimate center depth in the prospect pool.

No, no, no. Well Jones, McGinn and Downie probably do hold almost identical value to the Avs, and I think Hishon and Sgarbossa are close, but no, those would be the options for filling spots in the package, as I understand that they wouldn't have the same value to all teams. One of the NHL wingers (Jones, McGinn or Downie), one of the center prospects (Hishon, Barrie or Connely), one of the PMD prospects (Barrie or Elliott) and a pick.

And I'm not suggesting that this is what Eriksson would be traded for, I'm just thinking out loud about what the best package the Avs could put together in a hypothetical world were Eriksson does become available.

Not even close.

Lehtonen will not be going anywhere. He's just as important to this team as Benn and Eriksson, if not more. Why he's even coming up in trade talks is beyond me.

Just the 5th is fine.

Dubinsky has always been overrated to me. Ott alone is worth a mid 1st and maybe a tad more. And defensive prospects are way down on our list of needs.

My ideal plan would be to pull the Anaheim trade and the Boston trade. Then draft a defenseman at 13th (one of them should fall), and Jankowski at 36th. Eakin and Spooner can fight for #2 and #3, and Jankowski serves as a long term project.

But I like your idea, as well. Just don't think we need that much top end talent. If we've got both 13th and 16th, I'd rather take one center and one defenseman over two centers.

So, Dubinsky is overrated, and Ott is worth a mid-first?

Ott only put up 5 more points than Dubinsky, in what was easily Dubinsky's worst season.

I didn't want to reply to this thread originally, but here it goes... I don't think a "firesale" is needed. However I do think that Ribs, Robi and Morrow should go. I've been worried about what the Stars plans with Kari were going to be since they drafted Campbell. I think He is the biggest question mark on this team and IF they want to trade him, they better be asking for the house for him.

I like the idea of Ribs to WAS for Eakin and 16, would be curious though if they could make it 11 if we through in a 2nd and maybe Wandell.

I may be in the minority here, but I have zero interest in any of the VAN trades. I'm not a fan of Raymond or Ballard and I'm sure as hell bot willing to give up Ott for them.

I have a really interesting trade scenerii that I'll post up here in a few minutes.

What would the Stars want from the Rangers for Ryder?

Might as well sign Penner to 4y x 5m contract if those are the players the Rangers want. Can't see him doing much in NY. I'd imagine Ryder would replicate what Higgins did.

Was thinking the same thing. We give up a legit scoring center for some potential. Would rather leave the defensemen out of the deal.

Clever.

The reason I would explore adding Ryder is because there is no long term commitment.

It shouldn't be beyond you. We're a borderline playoff team (still) and our goalie who is pretty damn good is a free agent in a year. With the heir apparent toiling in the minors it would seem Lehtonen is on his way out of town sooner or later. Pretty simple really.

He's the sole reason we got anywhere last year. Without him, we'd be a bottom 5 team IMO. And this is all under the assumption that Campbell is going to be better than Lehtonen. Don't get me wrong, I love Campbell and think he'll be amazing, but he has yet to prove that he'll be better, or at least just as good, as Lehtonen. Age and contracts are a big factor, for sure, but unless we're getting significant pieces back, I wouldn't trade Lehtonen.
