I've heard great things about GoT...but yeah we can't afford HBO right now.

I just saw Breaking Bad on AMC while looking through On Demand. Will have to check it out.

I'm not sure about other shows, but this season's finale had 4.2 million viewers when it premiered, and then a total of 5.1m including HBO's repeat. To put that into perspective, it's a 38% increase in the Season 1 finale, so it's experiencing solid growth (TWSS). In total, the average episode had 10.4m viewers from all legal platforms (premiere, repeat, HBO on demand, etc) and then about 4-5m illegal views.

As for modern TV ratings...

Game of Thrones - 4.2m
How I Met Your Mother - 8.87m
Big Bang Theory (Ugh) - 15m
Mad Men - 9.7m
House - 8.7m
Desperate Housewives - 11.1m
Family Guy - 5.7m

Of course, GoT is the only one of those that isn't on regular cable so the discrepancy is understandable. Big Bang Theory getting 15m, however, is baffling.

This is some nice info. Thanks.

I'd also be interested in how the ratings compare to comparative seasons of the above shows. E.g, GoT Season 2 ratings vs House Season 2 ratings. ETC.

Cheers mate. Appreciate the help.

Do wonder how GoT compares to shows that are only on premium cable televisions networks. I'm not so sure about which networks are subscription based in the US though. Showtime, HBO? I'd guess it's got better ratings than Californication and Boardwalk Empire.

And yeah, how the hell does BBT get 15 million viewers? That's ****ed up.

In the US, we have HBO, Showtime, Starz (Spartacus), and Cinemax (basically a useless channel)

Trying out The Wire based on a bunch of you guys giving it rave reviews. I can tell it has good acting a a very realistic feel to it just from episode 1. How many episodes do I have to wait on till it gets really good and into the storyline?

Hmm, thought you'd have more than those four. Always thought AMC was a premium cable network for some reason considering all the good shows they're producing. Still, you got both HBO and Showtime making some pretty special shows, here in Sweden we got nothing. Takes forever to get anything good on here, so there's pretty much only one option

Not surprising to see GoT on top, though I would of thought Homeland would have slightly bigger numbers, I really enjoyed the first season.

I did the same a while ago, based on reviews from this place. I watched a couple of episodes but it never really sticked for some reason. I'd have to try watch it again, I probably didn't stick with it long enough to really appreciate it.

Its hard for me to go backwards with shows too because even this just being from 10 years ago, it feels so old. Right now after 1 episode it feels like a Law and Ordee type show and I never got into those cop shows. I did enjoy seeing things from the bad guys perspective half the time though. Normally through 1 episode, I'll have something about the show (normally an actor or actress) that hooks me, even if the storyline hasn't yet.

Dark, but funny.
I saw the movie with a few friends and everybody except one of them was looking at me odd when I started cracking up during that picture

I heard they're making a third one?

Wouldn't surprise me if they do. They'll want to milk as much money as possible out of the franchise.

Yes, it's supposed to have the main 3 guys and not Doug (the one who isn't really in either of the movies anyways). Apparently it's supposed to be a story of the 2 guys getting Alan out of a mental institution. If they do a stand alone movie that isn't a copy of the first 2 movies it will be hilarious.

Thought Prometheus sucked. The screenplay/script could have been written by a fourth grader.

Yea I think they gotta change it up a bit

Second one although I enjoyed it, had a bit too much repetitiveness......they incorporated it well though

You just made me laugh .

I enjoyed it just for the SciFi feel but once you start breaking the movie down it was pretty terrible technically.

was it better than Event Horizon?

That is my go/no-go point on watching a sci-fi movie.

Yeah pretty much agree. How could a movie with so much money behind it have a screenplay that was so haphazardly slapped together?

I found Event Horizon funny rather than scary. The concept was cool, they could have done much better with it.
