Assistant Coach Hiring / Extensions

The Winnipeg Jets announce today the hiring of Perry Pearn as Assistant Coach #NHLJets

#NHLJets announce Assistant Coaches Charlie Huddy, Pascal Vincent, Wade Flaherty and Tony Borgford have all agreed to contract extensions
Not sure about his roll with the Canadiens but Pearn ran the defense for the Rangers while Renney was the coach there. Considering we have Huddy for that I don't know what his roll here will be.

Edit:

Just found an article saying he ran special teams for Montreal, Top-10 in stuff both years he ran it there.

Pearn could be a ST coach or maybe another coach with a role similar to Borgford.

I'm very pleased that Huddy is back and I look forward to Bogosian's continued progression under his guidance. I can't recall Vincent's role last year, I thought it was special teams, but regardless I'm glad they got someone to help with special teams. The PK was 24th in the league last year and that obviously needs to improve.

This is a great hiring; when Pearn was fired in Montreal it was in reality an attempt by Gautier to send a message to Martin versus a firing based upon performance. Most legit NHL insiders at the time said his dismissal made no sense.

Pearn is a great coach and that the Jets are adding to their staff is also a good thing.

Happy with the extensions and hiring Pearn. Huddy is a key guy to keep in the fold.

I like the Pearn hiring, but I'm a little surprised they went with him instead of Mike Haviland, who was already a contender for head coach a year ago.

Welcome back to Winnipeg Perry!

Same name (Jets), new go-around.

I remember Pearn's firing being a complete surprise to the media. Very neat that we got him, he's great with special teams.

I think were getting a very experienced coach with a solid resume.

I'm glad all our coaches were retained so that the players are familiar with them.

People have selective memories, before he was fired this season the Canadiens PP was pretty brutal but the previous 2 full season's he ran it it was top-10 in the league.

I'm not too worried.

He was also fired after less than 10 games I think with Montreal. Not a long line of work to call his PP coaching "brutal".

Yeah exactly, all indications were that he was just the first scapegoat.
