Mock Draft

My NHL Draft Mock

select Right Winger Nail Yakupov Sarnia OHL
Best player of the draft, adds even more young firepower to their offense. Could a team trade up and take this pick if Edmonton is thinking of acquiring more assests and grab a defenseman?

select Defeseman Ryan Murray Everett WHL
A top notch, NHL ready defenseman joining Johnson on the blueline this year in Columbus. With a Nash trade near imminent, Columbus will still need to add offfense in some trades if they take Murray over Galchenyuk.

select Center Alex Galchenyuk Sarnia OHL
Habs finally get a bonafide center prospect. They take top line potential and great characther over the injury of the knee that hurt him last year.

select Defenseman Matthew Dumba Red Deer WHL
Questioned whether or not they want Forsberg, but with so much young offensive firepower already, they stick to the gameplan and select a defenseman. Dumba is the second defenseman to get chosen after Murray

select Left Winger Filip Forsberg Leksand SEL
Forsberg or Grigorenko? Burke has has success with the Sweedes before and has seen that perhaps Forsberg could play center in the long run. Leafs fill offensive need by selecting near NHL ready Forsberg

select Center Mikhail Grigorenko Quebec QMJHL
Ducks select a center who has high potential and lucky that he slips this far. In a year or two a 1 2 punch of Getzlaf and Grigorneko could be problem to opponets in the Pacific divison.

select Defenseman Jacob Trouba US18 NTDP
An American defenseman is selected here by Minnesota as they add depth in a big punishing defenseman in Trouba

select Right Winger Teuvo Teravainen Jokerit FIN
Highly skilled forward with loads of potential, he comes in to help increase firepower in the Carolina offense. Needs to get stronger

select Defenseman Griffin Reinhardt Edmonton WHL
A well-rounded defenseman who is good in all the facets of his game. Skating can be improved, but has great potential to go along with size.

select Defenseman Morgan Reilly Red Deer WHL
Yzerman gets nervous to see whether he gets Reinhardt or Reilly. He prefers Reilly and gets lucky that Reinhardt gets selected right before. Reilly and Hedman will lead a good defense core in the future in Tampa

select Center Radek Faksa Kitchener OHL
They grab a center that they have been desiring. Faksa could make the team in a year or two. Kitchener has had success recently developing prospects.

select Defenseman Cody Ceci Ottawa OHL
Although they want to grab a number 1 center, none are left. They could potentially try to trade up, but they wait and select a good two-way defenseman with size in Ceci. Ceci has an NHL cannon shot already and could be pro ready in a year or 2. Some scouts have said behind Murray, Ceci is the most NHL ready.

select Defenseman Olli Maatta London OHL
Could turn out better then some of the defenseman already chosen. Coming over to North America helps his stock and the Stars get a good one.

select Center Zegmus Girgensons Dubuque USHL
Flames need to add talent to all their prospect pools and start this draft by selecting Girgensons who will be a fan favorite in Calgary

select Right Winger Sebastien Collberg Frolunda SEL
After having tremendous successes with other Sweedes, they select another in a potential scorer in Collberg

select Defenseman Hampus Lindholm Rogle SEL
After selecting offense with their first pick, they select a defenseman who played in the Sweedish top league and played well at that.

select Right Winger Tom Wilson Plymouth OHL
Goes a little higher then anticpated due to good combine results. They see a 2/3 line winger who can dig, hit, and score

select Defenseman Matt Finn Guelph OHL
They decide to go defense first and select Finn who will need time to develop into a top 4 defenseman

select Center Brendan Gaunce Belleville OHL
Gaunce drops more then most experts anticipate. Yzerman picks offense after going defense with the first pick. Yzerman sees a future 2/3 line center in Gaunce who could also play wing but be a team first attitude player.

select Defenseman Brady Skeji US18 NTDP
Flyers select the American defenseman who has good potential, still a few years away

select Center Henrik Samuelsson Edmonton OHL
Needs to work with skating skills but adds scoring and grit to the Sabres. An agitator goal scorer can become a huge benefit and the Sabres hope to be rewarded

select Defenseman Slater Koekkeok Peterborough OHL
Add a young defenseman who could become a top 4 defenseman in a few years

select Center Tom Hertl Slavia CZE
Panthers are happy to select and add more center depth in Hertl who could be a great two-way player in 2-3 years

select Defenseman Derrick Pouliot Portland WHL
Bruins add a good two-way defenseman who has an offensive game

select Center Scott Laughton Oshawa OHL
A potential 2/3rd line center who does this little things. Could be a great leader/role player in the future for the blues behind Backes.

select Defenseman Ludvig Bystrom MODO SEL
Vancouver selects a defenseman to add to their depth. They hope he can become a star like another Sweede in Vancouver playing defense.

select Left Winger Pontus Aberg Djurgardens SEL
Aberg drops out of the teens and the Coyotes get a high potential speedy forward to increase their future offensive depth.

select Defenseman Jordan Schmaltz Green Bay USHL
High potential Defenseman to go to broadway. Needs some time to fine tune his game and develop more which will be allowed with the Rangers depth. Needs to add size and strength.

select Goaltender Malcom Subban Belleville OHL
After not forfeiting their pick, they decide to add to their goaltending depth and between Wedgewood and Subban one will take the heir to Brodeur in a year or two. Subban is the only goalie selected in the first round.

select Center Mark Jankowski Stanstead College
Boom/bust, might be a real treat to watch. With added size and strength, Jankowski could have top 6 center potential. Great pick for Kings at 30

I'd take Koekkoek, Bystrom and Pouliot over Finn. Think Bowman will look for NCAA prospect like Skjei.

Isles will make a surprise pick like every year

Cant wait to see what Dallas does.

I like your pick, but will be interested if we get tempted by Girgensons.

Our centre prospect depth is poor and a talent like girgensons would instantly be our best centre prospect.

With Oleksiak, Nemeth, Kilngberg and recently pro larsen on the blue line, our defensive prospects are quite good. But nothing wrong with making it better with a talent like Maata.

I have a feeling Maata, Girgensons and Ceci will be the 3 were choosing between.

Laughton's 200-foot game, competitive attitude and solid play in all zones make him the perfect Hitchcock player. His floor seems to be an excellent, in your face #3C and his upside is something in the Mike Richards department if his late offensive uptick is just late blooming on the offensive side. Love the pick for the Blues.

I like your mock. One thing though - I don't Trouba going ahead of Reilly.

one of so many possible scenario. I like Galchenyuk for the Habs. Glad to see that the Grigorenko hype is slowly fading away

He's not gonna go to Winnipeg or Carolina. They're stacked with OFD's

Like the Bruins pick. IMO they go D w/ Skjei, Koekkoek, Finn, and Pouliot. I could also see them taking someone who projects as a gritty two-way player like Sissons, Kerdiles, Gaunce or Wilson if the D they want are all gone.

I think if Murray is off the board, Isles may trade down so they can add a top 4 defender to the team. Dumba is a good prospect, but I would not put him as a franchise d-man. If there is no deal to be made, Isles will take Forsberg in that spot.
