I'm sure some Ads fans will back me up on this one.

On paper/screen, they really don't look all that bad. But when you actually see them up close and in person, they are a bit of a mess. Just too many primary colors in a small space.

If they did go with Ducks colors, however, they would be much more palatable. Just do a black jersey with an orange shoulder and gold trim. I could dig that much more. Of course, we wouldn't see it at home because the AHL wears white at home.

ADs Away Jersey

Many of us here call that jersey "McJersey" because in person it looks like a clown could wear it.

It is confusing.

5 years ago Ken Young decided to rebrand the team and came out with the two jerseys you see in the pictures. They tried to incorporate the primary colors of the previous editions of the Admirals. The blue and gold from the ECHL and early AHL days and the red from when they agreed to wear Blackhawks jerseys with the ADs logo.

Young said at the time he did it this way that he would have continuity should affiliations change. There are many in Norfolk not totally happy with the logo and certainly don't care for the away jersey.

But if changing colors/logos/jerseys gets on the table there will be a large number of Norfolk fans who will lobby to go back to the blue and gold. I do like the color scheme of the Ducks jerseys. But to be practical, the only way I see the Admirals wearing Ducks colors would be to use Ducks jerseys and put the Admirals logo on the chest and have the anchor and the Ducks logo on the shoulders. This would be like the situation we had with the Blackhawks.

But I think the deadline to submit new colors/jerseys is either passed or soon to be upon us with the AHL office.

It will be an interesting process.

I am not a fan of black jerseys and hope that the Admirals do not use black.

Really liked the blue/gold MDA jersey.

Our Swedish prospects should feel right at home in the blue/gold jersey.

Are Admirals games streamed online? Like, not the pay per view kind?

It doesn't feel like our colors fit the name of the team.

Well at least they've landed somewhere. It will be interesting to see what that roster looks like next year. According to cap geek there are quite a few holes on the Ducks and Admirals rosters.

I think that translates pretty well if the part of the sweater that appears red is the legit orange.

I like it! Especially if they change the red parts in the logo to match the orange.

Also, our current home jersey is a bit different from the away jersey...

The Logo is supposed to be Orange+Gold, I'm not photoshop wizard so its just a simple fill tool job and there are some pixels that remain Red or Yellow. Hence the It Looks Red effect.

I realize that but I loathe that jersey template.

About replacing the orange with gold? That would look more "Admiral" imo.

Looks good though.

About three years ago the someone really cracked down on the illegal streams, have not been able to find regular season ones since then.

No you have to pay to watch, highlights are free the next day.

You can listen for free http://www.1021fmthegame.com/ as long as there is not a dead skins game.

Admirals can't get the time of day from the local media. They didn't start covering the Admirals in earnest until about game 20 of the streak.

Apologies for the sloppiness, I didn't feel like doing a proper re-color

Something like that?

Problems, maybe? Arguing over length of affiliation? Maybe the uncertain labor situation is causing a problem.

What made Tampa want to move on, anyway?

Ducks are kind of busy preparing for the draft right now. I was under the impression that the deal would be announced between the draft and free agency.

My Cat & DuckJet are right both right in why it is taking so long.
1. Draft is much more of a priority
2. Length of affliation is a big deal to the Admirals, and probably is just as much to the Ducks. Ken Young (owner of the Ads) doesn't want to jump around from affliate to affliate (Ducks would be the third since we have been in the AHL), 5 years is the typical arrangement with the last 2 years being optional years.

The said reason Tampa wanted to move is travel. Norfolk is the southernest team in the Easter Conference with our nearest opponent being Hershey, 6 hours away. They wanted their players on the bus less and on the ice or in their own bed more. Lame excuse after this past season when all the players were saying the reason why they were winning is cause they were so close and they got so close because of the traveling and being on the bus so much.

While I enjoyed this past year and parts of the TB era, I can't wait for Anaheim to come in. Time to move on with the Future... When the Stevie Y Era came in to TB, TB made Ken Young do some upgrades for the players, so Anaheim prospects will get to benefit from that.

Also, if you do not know the Norfolk area, it is a great area to have a minor league hockey team. First, there are TONS of apartments within walking distance of the Scope (the arena). Alot of players skate boarded to the arena.

You will also see a professional front office staff, from the Owner, to the PR guy, to the season ticket holder rep... they are all world class. They will not pull the stunts that Dolgon pulled in SYR. Ken Young is hands off when it comes to the lockerroom, he leaves that to the professionals. Keith, the PR guy, goes above and beyond to make sure you know what is going on and has no problem answering any questions. Even our media is more respectable than SYR. They do not publish or report anything without it being from the team so you know its official.

And the fans, we love our team. We will support anyone who has the loveboat logo on their chest. The love for our team gets so great that you will see people b1tching non stop about how we have to suffer thru Caps games and cant get Anaheim games on the local networks to watch the Admirals that are called up.

Heres to a long and fun affliation... you guys will love us <3 Promise!

I think I read somewhere that all players Norfolk had go to Syracuse with the Tampa organisation. Could be wrong though.
