Strickland: "Semin to Detroit?"

Semin to Detroit?

Lots of signs point towards Alexander Semin headed to Detroit. The Red Wings will no doubt be looking to spend money this summer.

Good fit there. If any team has the right environment to get the most out of him, it's Detroit.

Just for the fact Datsyuk to Semin will be awesome to watch this makes me excited. Datsyuk needs an elite winger.

Detroit (Pavel Datsyuk) is exactly what Semin's career needs, and Semin's right-handed snipe is exactly what Detroit needs.

As long as Semin doesn't run off to the KHL or demand stupid money I don't see why this won't happen.

Then again KH always finds a way to rain on my parade...

This is about as predictable as it gets. Caps fans have been calling this for 6 months+.

Personally I think he goes there and has a great season. Just wonder if Detroit will offer him enough. Maybe a 1 year deal to prove his worth.

This is one of the funniest made up blogs (whatever) I've read in a long time. And people take this as news, etc...

The part about Chelios is hilarious.

Why would Chelios recruit Suter to play for Chicago when he works for the Detroit Red Wings? Lmao.. And then he has a paragraph about Chicago under it as though he's providing more information on the Hawks..

This was common knowledge across the whole board before even last off-season. Heck, I'm pretty sure Eklund even posted an "e4" about it last summer.

This is Andy Strickland we are talking about. He basically said Tarasenko had no chance of coming over, simply because he he took Sasha Khavonov seriously. He takes everything he is told as gold. This all depends on who his source is.

Well we've been talking about it forever, but Semin's future with Washington was unclear until just recently.

Eklund's past reference was to a trade last year.

Would Detroit take Semin over Parise?

I'd be interested to see Semin in Detroit, though.

Detroit probably won't even get a chance to make that decision. Parise to Minnesota will make it for them.

It is funny. It reads like a rumor site set up by an eleven-year-old. All he does is ask a question, then instead of answering it he gives one or two vague sentences where he restates the question. Isn't this guy an Eklund lackey anyway?

Anyway, it still wouldn't surprise me if Semin ended up in Detroit.

I would like to see Semin succeed with an organization and coach that will hold him responsible for his actions.

God knows McPhee/BB treated him with white gloves, and Hunter treated him like he didn't exist for most of the playoffs.

Playing with Datsyuk may or may not help. Babcock would have a field day with him and is probably not sleeping well with Semin not signed with another club.

Im sure if he goes to Detroit, they'll be at least 50 articles written in the next two years about Semin in the doghouse.

They might be able to afford Semin, Parise, and Suter. I'm no cap specialist, but if they let Hulder and his $3.5 million walk, save Lidstroms' $5 million, already have a ton of cap space, plus if the cap goes up... they may be in good shape to get everyone.

And no question Red Wings' owner will back the money truck up to Ken Holland's office so he can spend the money on everything he wants to keep this team competitive. Red Wings' owner LOVES to spend money on his team! They could easily give Parise and Suter a sign on bonus that many other owners couldn't even dream of matching.

I don't know if Semin has it in him to reform, but if it's going to happen anywhere, you have to like the odds of it happening under Babcock's tutelage, and riding shotgun with Datsyuk. He'll certainly put up some great numbers. If he can minimize the damage when he's not feeling it, he's a total stud. It's not about his defensive tool box, but how frequently you can get him to engage. When he's motivated, he's a cracker jack player.

If Parise doesn't re-sign with Devils, I give Detroit the edge to acquiring him. I have a feeling if he makes it July 1st without being signed, he's destined to be in HockeyTown.

Also, Holland stated he would trade assets for negotiation rights... and we all know Holland had a good relationship with Devils GM. So if Devils and Parise can't work out a deal, I'd wager Lou will speed dial Ken Holland to offer a trade proposal for his rights.

You have to cut through a lot of unpleasant garbage to get to the prize at the bottom of the box.

It's not like Detroit gets to call dibs on parise. I think he has a better chance of landing in minny or staying in Nj.

Semin wouldn't be a bad consolation prize and if the wings can land Semin/Suter it will be a very successful offseason.

Strictly speaking, couldn't they afford both (and still make a decent offer to Suter as well)?

A lot of the speculation regarding Detroit goes back to Parise's own comments before the playoffs regarding how he likes the way Detroit plays, Datsyuk being his favorite player to watch, etc.
