A first, second, and third for Carlson is a steal, so teams with 0 chance of getting anying UFAs and plenty of cap space should have no problem offering 6.2m for a couple years.
An RFA is not on the "open market." Yes, he could theoretically be the target of an offer sheet, but guess who also has a ton of cap space... that's right, Washington. At what point do you think McPhee won't match? Never mind that an offer sheet to Carlson would absolutely be a green light for McPhee to snipe the other team's RFA of his choosing.

Honestly, at this point, I feel like Parise would be a better allocation of those dollars. But I wouldn't kick Suter out for eating cookies, either.

Hey brah, us lacrosse bros are always free, I don't care if the haters call us RFAs, we are always on the open market.

McPhee hasn't sniped a damn thing in his life.

Sheehy was one of the four accused of ****** that groupie woman, along with Geoff Courtnall and Dino Cicarelli and Scott Stevens. http://news.google.com/newspapers?ni...g=4058,5275205

I think Scott Stevens was subsequently accused only of being the "lookout" and I think that's why he wasn't mentioned in this article about how the grand jury refused to file criminal charges. http://www.nytimes.com/1990/07/01/sp...statement.html

Don't know whether it was just a coincidence that three of the four weren't on the team the next year (because Dino stayed I think two more years). I don't know all the contract/free agency circumstances or anything. But I've always felt, y'know, Caps' history might be a whole lot different had they held onto Scott Stevens one way or another.

Anyway, I have a feeling Neil Sheehy isn't a huge fan of the Capitals but I'm not really sure. I definitely got the feeling at the time that all of the accused felt they were completely innocent. I don't know that that's the reason the Capitals soon parted ways with them, but, y'know, the timing was suspicious, at least for three of them.

Also, Neil Sheehy once did this, which was pretty cool.

I remember reading Stevens went home early before the unspeakable, but was in the Limo nonetheless.

I doubt Sheehy wants to have anything to do with DC. Hell we are already rehashing the story. I think he will steer clear.

I know it's Eklund... But in his blog he wrote the Caps are the new NHL favorite for Radulov, and that it's possible that Kostitsyn could come with him...

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Kostitsyn
Radulov-Johansson-Semin
Chimera-Laich-Brouwer

Or

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Brouwer
Laich-2C-Radulov
Chimera-Johansson-Kostitsyn

Not bad...

He also said on twitter that negotiating rights for a major UFA could be traded soon (not Suter)

That would be, by far, the softest top 9 in the NHL.

Well, it looks like Kyle Wilson is back in the division:

Two 2nds and a 3rd seems an awfully steep price for Lindback, no?

Oh my **** why are we even discussing this.

You know his fishbowl is shot to **** when even he's on the "RUSSIAN TO CAPS" bandwagon.

I'd rather have Ward at 3RW.

I wouldn't... But it all depends whose on that line... If its Mojo and Chimera then Kostitsyn would be a better fit, as that would be a decent scoring 3rd line...

And for those who wouldn't like getting Radulov and/or Kostitsyn, do you want Beagle and Hendricks on the 3rd line, and essentially wasting 6 forward spots on Hendricks,Beagle,Ward,Perreault,Aucoin,Sjogren/Eakin? Look at NJ and LA, they have some serious fire power AND depth. We have fire power and need depth. Hendricks and Beagle and Ward isn't depth, that's 4th line.

Not wanting Radulov and Kostitsysn =/= wanting Beagle and Hendricks on the 3rd line.

I like that move for Tampa. Now we'll see if they'll solidify that D.

Fedorov said they should be shortly closing a deal with Radulov.

It appears Poile is being a jackass and not letting Radulov talk to teams, just wants to lose him for nothing.

Poile is looking like the most undeserving GM of the year candidate.

I don't know Lindback was pretty average behind an elite defense in Nashville, and has what, 40 games of NHL experience?

I think it's a situation where he needs to be in a starters role instead of sporadically being placed in games as a backup.

True but it's more that type of player... Most realistic scenario is that we can't get the perfect player(s) in the top 9, but IMO, getting Radulov and Kostitsyn is sure as hell better than getting Jokinen and someone like Samuelsson.

I thought we were dumping Russians, not adding them.

Radulov is an all world talent but is just about the last player I want the Caps to add this summer.

MOAR North Americans please.
