Flyers get Scandella or Stoner
They have Hackett, among others, in their system. Bob would be redundant.

One week until the draft. I've been impatiently waiting since the Flyers season ended.

I felt from the beginning that it would be the Leafs since Brian Burke drafted him, maybe interested in Carlyle as a coach too.
The Flyers and some of their fans were also dissapointed they didnt land Matt Gilroy. I am not going to lose any sleep over Schultz.

I didn't expect Schultz either, but those two players were rated in entirely different leagues. Schultz is a UFA player that gets an ELC, multiple years of control, and has number 2 defenseman upside. I believe I saw scouts say he'd be definitely be a top 10 draft pick if eligible. Matt Gilroy simply wasn't that.

I know that. But both players were pretty hyped as free agents that was the point I was trying to make. Coming out of BU just about every team was looking to land him. He was highly sought after and the hype was pretty high on this board.
Schultz is likely going to be a better pro defenseman. Not going to deny that.

There's a report out of RDS that Evander Kane wants out of Winnipeg.

Thoughts?

Kane - Schenn - Simmonds

Someone get this done immediately. That line would destroy everything.

Oh hell yes. The "There goes the neighborhood" line. Book it.

New Jersey MIGHT lose both goalies to retirement (Marty is a FA anyway). Edmonton should look for a starter, New York Islanders should also look for a long term starter with Montoya a FA. Boston may need help with Golden Boy taking the season off, and the Leafs can always use a goalie.

Unfortunately, I think the package would start with Schenn or Couturier.

They need a center. Schiefle might be a 2C, but it is pretty thin after that, so I don't think that we could build a deal around either Voracek or JVR.

Industry sources say two quality roster players and two prospects is likely asking price for Rick Nash #CBJ #NHL

They are out of their minds, and if homer pays anything close to that, I quit.

Again, I don't necessarily think that's exhorbitant as a negotiating position.

The Rangers (fans) have been trying to peddle Dubinksy, Anisimov, Christian Thomas and J. T. Miller / or Tim Erixon for six months.

If I'm Columbus, that's a pretty easy pass.

It depends on their definition of "quality" player.

If that is true, though, it suggests Columbus will not accept draft picks instead of prospects. That would put us out of the Nash sweepstakes--for better or worse. Our prospect pool simply can't compete with most of the other suitors--all the good young players are already in the NHL.

I'd be cool trading a JVR/Bob/Mez combo plus two lesser prospects like maybe Wellwood and one of MAB or Gus (or Manning). I wonder if they consider Schenn & Cooter prospects or quality roster players?

They are not longer rookies in the NHL, so it is hard to count them as prospects, isn't it?

It will be interesting to see if the Kane rumors affect Nash's price. After all--for any cap team, Kane is a far, far more valuable piece than Nash--though the (rumored) attitude / off-ice issues are a concern.

I strongly believe that a package of either Schenn or Couturier + a secondary asset would be a competitive offer for Kane. The Jets need a long-term 1C--and both Schenn and Couturier look more likely to fill that role than Schiefle, there only top-6 center prospect.

Little is currently out of position at center, and probably should be playing wing.

Burmistrov looks like he might be a wing long term too.

I'd have an awful hard time parting with either Couturier or Schenn, but it is hard no to like a Kane-Giroux pairing for the next decade. All that kid does is shoot the puck. He'd be the perfect compliment to G.

I think that's just that reporters idea of what the asking price would be. Furthermore, I'd assume a 1st round pick would be considered a prospect as on Friday that pick will be converted into a solid prospect.

I think my interest in Nash all depends what the definition of quality is.

I think i would pull the trigger and do the deal if it was something like JvR + Bob/mesz/wellwood + 1st + Gus/manning

I think I would even consider the deal if it was both JvR and Read, but obviously the other pieces in the deal would be taken out.

I don't know it's a tough call either way. Do we have the offensive depth to pull it off? Yes. Is it worth it to invest that depth in a player with a large cap hit? Who knows.

If we do trade for him though I really have no worries of him not living up to that cap number, we play an extremely offensive game and players numbers always tend to increase when they play for the Flyers. I think next to Giroux, Nash is a lock for 40-45 goals and 75-85 points.
