oh do you know Kovalev? I didn't think so. Maybe a few years ago he didn't help young players all that much but now I think that he knows that the young guys look up to him and he realizes that his role would be limited. Kinda like Selanne. He likely wont put up the same numbers as Selanne but he has the skills to do so.

It just annoys me when people talk out of their ass with absolutely nothing to back their opinion up. Kovy loves Montreal I think he truly cares based on his comments. But when people say that he doesn't know how to lead or tech is just BS. You can tell me that the man didn't learn a thing or 2 from Mario Lemieux. See Jagr was the same kind of personality and now look at him. He is one of the leaders in the room. Give the guy a shot if we can't find a decent UFA or trade to fill the top 9

I'm sorry, which players on this team give it 100% for all 82 games, or am I missing something?

Been there, done that. The return of Therrien is enough.

Exactly that. A past his prime superstar but still talented player eagerly wants to come back here, finish his career here. No downside to giving him a camp invite, non at all. Could be he can no longer cut it, and he would know it himself by camps end...and nobody loses. On the other hand....

I always had a soft spot for Kovalev, and wouldn't mind if he got an invite.

But this made me laugh:

"I'm working hard, training three times a week and keeping in shape. Hopefully, somebody will get interested."

Three times a week? I would expect a 39 years old to train more often. Hell, at 40, I train 6 times a week just to avoid gaining weight.

First of all his name is Kovalev....not Kovy. He is not a stuffed teddy bear.

Kovalev can't skate at all any more and is a selfish primadonna who has nothing to offer our young players other than a "How to Waste Your Talent " manual. Keep this clown far away from the kids.

DO NOT WANT! Can we jus move on from that era. No Koivu no Kovalev. We have turned a page and we are done with this type of crap. We don't need him end of story.

I'm not an expert on training but I recall reading rest between training days is important.

Thanks maybe you should say that to all of his teammates who call him Kovy.

Please don't talk so badly about yourself. Someone is full of anger and needs

The guy can no longer play top 2 lines, and he doesn't fit the profile of a bottom 2 line guy, so is he going to be the 13th forward?
I don't think so
For those that think he's top 2 lines worthy.......

Do not want, brings absolutely nothing that we require, anyone who thinks otherwise has no clue.

I think he more than fit the profile for a 3rd liner with PP responsibilities.

Yes, you need to diversify your training, but that Kovalev quote is hardly impressive.

And somehow I doubt your workout routine is all that impressive either. 30 minutes a day on the elliptical doesn't quite compare to what real athletes put their bodies thru even if you do it 12 times a week.

Pretty sure He could still help the team but with limited ice time. Make him play on the third line with some PP shifts. Him and Markov could really solve or PP problems for the next year since I don't think the solution is in the farm team neither with the UFA crops of this summer. It will give us more time to get a good player who will be able to truly help us for those dimension of the game that we lack right now. + most of the fans truly love the man.

Next up to get his own come back thread is Bégin. Might as well make a sticky at the top for all players who "want" to come back.

Tonight he'll be on the show 'Le Match'. Fans can ask him questions.

Its in french, but : Par ailleurs, l'ancien attaquant des Canadiens de Montréal a dit au quotidien «The Gazette», mercredi, qu'il aimerait bien effectuer un retour dans la Ligue nationale de hockey, plus spécifiquement avec le CH.
Radulov is the new Kovy. Go get him Bergy.

This thread and the Radulov thread only serve one purpose: it shows how desperate Habs' fans are to get a true offensive star, when they're willing to waste precious roster spots for that kind of players.

In Radulov's case, keep the trouble away. In Kovy's place, while there's no doubt that he loves Montreal and that he's good in the community, it's time to move on. I'd rather see a guy like Leblanc get that roster spot, or another young guy.

It depends what we want out of this year.

If we are going to be making a huge push this year for a top spot and a cup run then I wouldn't take him. But if this is just going to be a quiet year where we patiently let the prospects develop in the AHL while we wait for our veterans' contracts to run down and shoot for a lower draft pick then I'd take him.
