Well getting rid of him would have everything to do with his contract and the winger depth this team has. Then again, greatly overpaying a fourth line player worked out well for us before(Marchant).

Marchant was only on the fourth line because of Pahlsson though. He was still good enough to be a third liner until the end of the 08-09 season.

As for a potential Cogs/Connolly swap, I'd be all for it if there is nothing else available. I'm not a fan of Connolly but it would address an area of need and would get rid of Cogliano who is redundant on this team. If Connolly can play even 60 games the trade would be worth it.

UFA/DSP - Getzlaf - Perry
Ryan - Connolly - Etem/Palmieri
UFA/DSP - Koivu - Selanne
Beleskey - Bonino - UFA

That's a pretty solid group of forwards. Insert Holland/Bonino for when Connolly gets hurt.

I wouldn't be against trading Cogs+pick/prospect for Connolly. He has only a year left in his contract so if he stinks, he isn't around for long and he doesn't make too much money.

DSP-Getzlaf-Perry
Palmieri-Connolly-Ryan
???-Koivu-Selänne
Beleskey-Bonino-???
???

Fill the ??? -spots with size and grit. Someone like Ponikarovsky would be good on the 3rd line or even on the top line.

So have the Ducks done qualifying offers to the RFA crowd yet?

Normally we hear about that a bit closer to July 1st. Bonino is about the only notable RFA we left to sign isn't he?

Would you guys do any of these deals with WPG?

Kane for Etem + Holland + ?

Kane for Etem + Sbisa

Kane for Etem + DSP

No.

No.

No.

Etem is too valueable to us, since he is a local kid. DSP has been very impressive so far. Holland is our only hope for a legit 2nd line center...

I'd flip you Palmieri, Cogs + 6th overall though?

For me, Etem is a deal breaker.

Besides, judging from his tweets, he prefers living in a big city.

Edit: It doesn't help that Kane doesn't address any organizational weakness.

Is it true he loves to party in LA? Maybe the Kings are down for a deal.

I was referring to Etem not Kane.

You beat my edit. I have no idea if he likes California. Judging by how many players come out here in the summer, it wouldn't be surprising.

Fair enough I figured you might be interested because Kane is already and NHL regular and would help Perry, Getzlaf, and Ryan right now and WPG is taking the risk on whether or not Etem pans I also figured you guys would be targeting a centre to play behind Getzlaf with the 6th pick

Not trying to change your mind just explaining my thinking

No, unless we can get a center at the draft. Holland is our only chnace at having a good #2 center.

No, Sbisa has shown his potential and was our second best dman last year.

I would, but alot of others wouldnt.

Kane isnt a big need for the Ducks. I think he has similar value to someo0ne like Duchene and I would much rather give assets if it filled a need for us, which is center.

The fact that local kid and DSP's good season would hold this deal up is hilarious. They are both being overated by some of us Ducks fans so much.

I respect your opinion alot but the local thing is way overplayed. The organizational weakness is the important part.

I'm sure Kane would be over the moon to get traded there unfortunately Kane would'nt net us Richards, Carter, Doughty, or Kopitar and they don't really have much in the way of top notch prospects

Etem just scored 61 goals in 65 games...I think we have reason to be excited.

IF we were to trade him or DSP, I'd expect the return to be significantly greater than Kane.

I would trade for Kane using a package with Etem. I personally love the way he plays. However, I'm not sure how much I'd be willing to add.

And I agree with Gliff. I'd also rather use some of these assets for a player like Dutchy.

BTW I am doubtful Winnipeg would primarily prospects as a return. They'd want NHL ready players to help their team right now.

Kane is only a year older and scored 30 in the NHL playing with Burmistrov who should really be in the OHL still just saying

I agree with that and this was borne more out of curiosity than anything

Believe me, you have a point and liek I said before, Etem holding up a trade like this is homerism at its finest.

I wouldnt do it because he isnt a center, not because Etem is a guaranteed local superstar which is how some assume he will be.

Not a knock on Kane's talent at all. I think he is a great hockey player and will continue to be better. I could see him hitting 50 goals actually.

I am just really against trading Etem. My hope for him is that he becomes a regular Top 6, who can bring in the crowd since he is from the area. Honda Center sure could use better attendance numbers.

IF we could package DSP + Palmieri + 6th overall, I'd do it in a heartbeat though. But I doubt WIN does.

His being a local only plays a minor part in turning it down.

Centre thing is understandable for sure and while I think the local thing is maybe a bit overrated in it's potential impact I do understand where you are coming from
