The only relevant piece of information I was able to find was that Jacques Laperrière serves as a role model for Daigneault in his coaching career. It's good news because Laperrière was our last good coach for the Ds; imo they never truly find a replacement.
Wow.....what I've been wanting for years has finally happened. Complete overhaul at the coaching and management level....from AHL club to the big club. A dream come true.
I like this signing. JJ was a very solid dman and he has experience in the coaching ranks. It's good to see more Francos getting these kinds of roles as it gives them experience and also increases the pool of franco replacements when Therrien gets canned (all coaches get canned at some point).
Hope it's true. That would mean our coaching team has 2 ex players in JJD and GG, and ones that didn't slack, Therrien and Gallant who can make sure the team actually skates instead of glide, and Jodoin who has a lot of experience that's going to cue Therrien on what he sees during games.
That could help with what I see as Therrien's weakness, getting outcoached, and Habs' weakness for a few years, lack of pride and drive.
Daigneault also would be perfect to work with the epic glut of NHL potential young D we have stashed up, along with Brisebois.
Bergevin has a plan, and it looks good. Whether it works, I have no idea, but to see him pluck people from other organisations, when we start hearing stuff about these organisations being sad to see those he grabbed go, it looks good for the future.
I like the balance and depth that Bergevin has brought to the organization. When you compare the upcoming year with last year, it looks like the team was operating with a skeleton staff (no personal offense to Gauthier ). I am even warming up to Therrien and I think his choices for coaches represents balance as well. It is also obvious that the team was lacking in the player development area; now it seems to have become a focal point for the team and that is the best news I have heard for a long time. I would imagine adding an assistant coach in Hamilton and rounding out the scouting staffs (both pro and amateur) will be the next steps.
