The way I read it is that he is talking about the personnel transition to the aggressive forechecking game, not the results on the ice. Only an idiot would suggest that the Stanley Cup runner up struggled on the ice.

Maybe he should have said something more along the lines of "We would imagine the team will continue to adjust the roster to ice the skaters that best fit Coach DeBoer's aggressive forechecking system, a transition that began under Jacque Lemaire's watch last season."

I don't think anyone would disagree with that, and after seeing several guys getting pushed around a lot during the finals, I think we need a little more size since Little Gio isn't going to grow six inches by training camp and a little extra speed certainly wouldn't hurt. We also need a defenseman with snarl. Just my two cents...
