So basically

- Poile states that they don't want Radulov back
- No team trades for Radulov's rights, making him ineligible to play anywhere in the NHL
- Radulov decides to go to the KHL instead of... sitting out the year I guess? Begging to play for his QA at best after leading the team in points in the playoffs?

And all of this adds up to Radulov being the worst person in hockey since Ballard in people's minds.

Interesting.

No doubt if he came back as an RFA a team would want him.

And when he lives up to being the locker room cancer he is they'll learn a lesson.

The Nashville Predators forward Alexander Radulov has decided to return to Russia to continue his career in the Continental Hockey League (KHL). His agent, Yuri Nikolaev, made the announcement in the Russian daily Izvestiya on Monday. Last week, the formation of CSKA Moscow had acquired the rights of the talented forward. CSKA, including former NHL player Sergei Fedorov is the general manager, would have made a significant financial compensation for Ufa Salavat Yulaev for Radulov. The most persistent rumors suggest that Radulov could become the highest paid hockey player in the world, an annual income of over $ 12 million. Radulov Predators Joined in March, but general manager David Poile said a few days ago that he was not interested in keeping its services for the next campaign. Russian 25 years has amassed seven points in nine games with the Predators last season. In the playoffs, he added six points in eight games.
And since he's a player returning from NHL, they can exempt his cap hit, correct?

Very clever maneuvering by Radulov. He burns his ELC while simultaneously qualifying himself for the huge KHL payday. Taking that pushes him past NHL RFA status.

Basically what it adds up to is that the NHL and KHL need a transfer agreement, or I think we'll start to see more players leveraging the two against each other like this.

Or heartless?

I agree he made a poor decision that one game in Nashville, a player on any sports team should put team needs first. Reports came out since that suggest the incident wasn't as bad as originally suggested though, and ya, the guy made a mistake. How many mistakes did you make when you were 25? Think about it. If he wants to go home, pocket millions of dollars a year, and have the freedom to do whatever he wants then good on him, to some people thats more important.
Thank you, sometimes I feel that message boards are nothing but little pockets of hate. I hope the people who feel the need to criticize him are working their butt off to be at the absolute top of their success at their own profession, at all costs. Get a grip.

Guys, stop hating.

If this is true, 12,000,000 per season, to play in your homeland country...

Who cares about the NHL when you are Russian, have a competitive hockey league to play in.

Money talks, just listen.

Cant blame him. That's a lot of money.

Having said that, I would still really like to hit him with sharp objects.

$12M per year for Radulov? Wow, those guys at the KHL are really desperate. Then again, the owners tend to blow millions of dollars to have themselves surrounded by women...

Can't blame Radulov for fleeing back to the KHL for those types of dollars, he'd be stupid to turn it down. And they're stupid for offering him that.

Given the current situation Preds do not want him anymore no other deal, the uncertainty about a lock out and that offer from the KHL, I perfectly understand Radulov. Probably would make the same decision. If he waits that offer will be gone smaller because CSKA will go after another Star probably Semin.
This time he has no contractual obligations to the NHL so he can do what he wants.
Maybe the agent just wants to put pressure on the Preds to trade him to the team he wants.

It is sad to see because on ice he is a brilliant player.

I can't really blame a guy like Radulov for wanting to play in his home country, while making that kind of money. But quit playing games, pick a league, and stand by your choice.

People just expect all athletes to be competitive. Some like Radulov are content with dominating the third maybe fourth best league in the world. Some guys just don't have it in them to compete with the best despite their talent.

12million reasons to go back. You'd do the same if you were Russian and a pro hockey player.

For 12 million you could easily get tons of Canadians and American hockey players to go over there. Money runs the world.
