Same here considering Stuart is 1.5 years older than Jackman and had a lot less leverage in the negotiations.

Jackman just signed a 3yr, 9.5. Stuart's shouldn't be too far off that Mark.

Anything like 3 years at 3 or 3.5 sounds fine to me, as I think we can now assume Murray will be gone, so it is just a 1 mil per year increase, and there isn't any reason to suspect his play will rapidly decrease over the duration of the contract

Interesting, Off the top of my head he made 1m from SJ. So I looked it up on cap geek and he had 2 11/12 contracts... one at 3M and one at 1M. Did he get bought out?

these are pretty telling stats i think for what the sharks are looking for.

led the Red Wings in hits with 177 and was second in blocked shots with 115.

Stuart played more short-handed minutes than any other Red Wings defender this past season.

Yes and no. Didn't McLellan say last season they don't pay attention to hits?

C'mon this is friggin DW. When's the last time he signed a fellow defenseman to cheap terms (and no, White doesn't count!)? I still remember Huskins for $1.7M and Wallin for $2.5M. When those numbers came out everybody was ok because we thought it was total contract value not the average value over two years. Doh!

I expect no less than $3.5M and would not be surprised if its a tad over $4M.
