Does Edmonton get a say in trading up?
Purely a hypothetical, gauging value of Kessel + 5th + 2nd vs Parise + Yakupov... I'd be hesitant, but the notion of Parise and Yakupov is so enticing.

i dont care what criticism that might get
i would do it in heartbeat

i don't think kessel is the answer to build your offense around for the bigger stronger defensive NHL
as a 2nd liner ok.
but if you get a 1st line power forward for him under 28/29 ? do it

You do realize that trading for rights isn't the same as trading for the player, right?

This would create a situation where we would trade our best player and possibly not be able to sign Parise. Essentially we could be left with our thumbs up our *****. You really think it would be worth it to take this chance?

Moving Kessel and getting an older lesser player to move up a mere 3 spots in this draft would be highway robbery for Columbus.

2 sub 6' players with injury histories is not that enticing to me. (less for Parise)

(maybe add a 2nd if needed?)

... then, flip our 5th and the 29th for 1st overall and draft Yakupov.

Thoughts? A hockey colleague just asked me if I'd do it.... god it's tempting.

Why the hell would management do something like that?

Burke has invested so much into Kessel, so much where any possible trade regarding him that's short of completely knocking their socks off won't get even the slightest consideration.
