Based on all of the other rumors that came up around the trade deadline, I think he was referring to Couture

I agree that he sounded like the door was closed on the Nash deal. While I would love Nash on the team, CBJ's possible asking price scared the living hell out of me.

Howsen needs to lay off the crack if he thinks Couture for Nash makes sense in anyway.

Howson can shove Nash's sticks up his ass instead for whatever he was asking

Is it just me or did it seem like DW gave more substance in this interview than normal? Admittedly we seem to be reading in between the lines here but usually his interviews are so empty of any semblance of a direction.

Definitely, he was slightly more forthcoming.

Did I just hear a guy say that everyone but Jumbo is a mediocre player and Nash is what we need? Oh man my sides.

I want what the last caller was smoking...

Nash >>>> Couture, Pavelski?

He said Jumbo is a superstar but everyone else deserves to be on an AHL roster.

Sounds interesting. No Nash does not concern me but I would like to see some speed somehow in the top 6.

I didn't hear the interview but from the comments you guys have made it sounds like Marleau and Niemi are staying put and the Sharks are out of the Nash running (unless Columbus drops their price).

So what does that leave? Are they going to try to be players in the free agent market? Maybe a system change?

He seemed to say we need wingers, probably free agent acquisitions or trades( I started a thread). That and that the players need to buy in the the system and the system needs to evolve. Everyone needs to focus and work harded, push the pace, control, and stay on top of the other team. I remember he singled out Clowe's play in the playoffs as too tentative, afraid to engage and make hits for fear of penalties.
