It's tough to deal with NJ. Their only top-line players I could see Regier having interest in are Parise and Kovalchuk - an impending free agent and an untouchable.

Miller isn't going anywhere. The untouchable list probably consists of Myers, Miller, and maybe Pominville. There's no way we could possibly get return for Miller that would make this team better. The team only succeeds (when it does) because of his stellar play...Unless Regier's thinking "long-term" and wants to trade him to get us into the Nathan MacKinnon sweepstakes.

I feel like that might be overpayment from Buffalo. Is McNeill really worth a proven solid 2C and a decent 2nd round pick?

Hawks fans: how close is McNeill to NHL-ready? Because I also feel like we're not in a position where we can afford to ship out Roy just for futures, since we're already lacking centers, don't have any good center prospects (unless you count Adam), and he's our only roster center capable of really handling a lot of d-zone starts.

Rather not move McNeill as I view him as longterm replacement for Dave Bolland

Especially not for Roy who is coming off poor season and UFA next summer

McNeill is a few years away ,, Looked like a kid making his pro debut when he joined Rockford

But I wish people would stop asking for him. He just signed a 7 year extension and wont be moved for anything.

just wondering...what would the price tag on JUST Stafford be for NJ?

I'm not his biggest fan, but it couldn't hurt to get one of Parise's bffs

Stafford + for Henrique??
Which I highly doubt the Devils do but, you know, we need 2-way centers.

Just Stafford would be hard because there's no one NJ asset equivalent to his value that we'd want. What we want most are roster centers, or at the very least, prospect centers on the cusp of making it to the big leagues. Henrique's a no go obviously and trading Zajac defeats the purpose of this trade, so I suppose the centerpiece would have to be Josefson. I haven't really been following him to know where he projects, though. NJ would have to add, though I'm not sure what.

Absolutely zero interest in wingers who are either older or have a higher cap hit than Stafford, unless they're the caliber of player who would never be traded for Stafford anyway. No need for d-prospects, either. We need to unloading d-prospects to shore up areas of needs, not the other way around.

I'd deal Vanek for Marleau, though I don't think Marleau would agree to leave SJ. Not sure I'm a fan of the other deal, though. There's probably only a handful of teams in the league who are in a position to risk trading speed and talent for grit, and Buffalo's not one of them.

Not interested in Marleau

Nash averages less points and goals per season than Vanek.... if Vanek became available it would cost a lot to get him (not a past his prime center)

Damn I think Stafford would work well on the Jets I just don't see any conceivable pieces we could send the other way. As I don't think we'd be trading our young talent (Kane, Bogosian, etc.) nor would we deal Byfuglien, Ladd, or Wheeler.

It would definitely have to be a package deal. What kind of pieces is Buffalo looking for?

Unless that + is Myers, hell no from NJ. If we were to acquire Stafford, we'd want to give back prospects and picks.

If that cant work, I guess BUF and NJ aren't good trading partners.

Paul freakin Gaustad went for a 1st rounder.

Versteeg went for a 1st and a 3rd (later a 2nd and a 3rd).

Kaberle went for a lot more than that, Burns went for dramatically more than that, etc., etc.

With the exception of Burns, Roy is more valuable than any of those other players.

If anything it'd be McNeil + probably at least a 1st rounder for Derek Roy.

Roy prior to this season was a 25 - 30 goal scorer, 70 - 75 point pace player the previous 4 season and he also is trusted to kill penalties. Not sure if people realize how hard that is to find. It seems like everybody has written him off after last season. Even before then it seems like he's always one of the must underrated players in the league.

He is exactly what Chicago needs and would be properly slotted in as the # 2 center behind Toews unlike in Buffalo where he's asked to do to much as the # 1.

We're pretty set at D between having 7-8 roster D, a couple NHL-ready prospects and a couple of good-but-not-yet-NHL-ready ones too. We have a mess of holes at forward though. We need to get bigger at center, definitely need a defensive center to kind of shield Ennis and to a lesser extent Hodgson from tough d-zone starts, we need to add more grit to our top 6, and we're lacking high-end forward prospects.
