Eklund is bringing up Hudler, could be a decent addition for offensive depth.

When was the last time Eklund got something right? Not and E5 trade confirmation a few minutes early, I mean one of his rumours turning out to be true. I know it happens occasionally (the stopped clock rule?) but I'm drawing a blank.

If it's not Flyers related, he don't get much right

I'd like to point out that Hudler is 5 ft 9. I like him, but he doesn't help us get bigger and stronger.

Dregger reported that Hudler signed a 4 years contract with Detroit worth 8M I think.

You're thinking of Helm. Also, he wasn't the one to break that, Dreger was.

He would help us score more goals, which is a bigger issue than size.

Helm signed 4 years 8.5 mil. Can't see Hudler getting less than 4 mil/year. As a UFA he'd cost 4.25-4.75/year.

So would a healthy Gionta, a motivated Bourque or one of Doan, Penner or Parenteau.

Doan is unlikely to move from Phoenix let alone come to Montreal

Penner may be an option.

Parenteau is about the same size as Hudler 6'180lbs vs 5'10" 180lbs and will cost more(at least 1 mil more/year)

Gionta and Bourque are fine but we need a couple more top 9 wingers...one AT LEAST.

Umm, sure we could use Evander, but Patty is exactly what we need. Our most skilled forward is Desharnais! And it wouldn't be much better being Evander. We are desperately lacking talent, and EK couldn't hold PKs jock when it comes to ability.

0:40 seconds in, one of the nicest goals I've seen.

It's really not close imo. One is a superstar, the other is a stud.

I really hope we don't go after Parenteau, I don't think he would be a big upgrade and he is using his FA status to get a big deal. Personally i'd stay away.

I actually hope we get Paranteau. I think he could surprise and actually be relevant away from JT.

I'm not particularly keen on Parenteau and I think he has been way over-hyped by some. His 49 points look good but he picked up 19 of those points ont the PP... which is great but he would have to bump Eric Cole off the #1 PP unit for that to happen again. He also played a lot with Tavares which couldn't have hurt.

Anyone who thinks Parenteau could replicate those numbers with the Habs could be severely disappointed. He might be lucky to reach 40 points with the Habs and the last guy that did that was considered inconsistent and dealt to Nashville.

He had 49 assists... 67points. He's a sure fire 50 points scorer... but unless we trade Gionta or Cole (I hear Carolina want a winger for Staal... about their first ?) we don't need him.

i would have to disagree not that Gio is a bad 2nd liner but signing Parenteau would give us way more depth, for example you have Cole and Gio, one of them gets injured
your next option for the top 2 lines is Leblanc basically, and it's not a knock on him, i like him but he shouldn't play there right now.Gionta's style is well suited for the 3rd line + it would give Eller a legit player to give the puck to so basically it's a win-win situation............ for the right price of course

Sorry... my bad on the points but he is hardly a sure fire for 50 points.... especially if Cole and Pacioretty are chewing up first line minutes and PP minutes.

Funny how a player with one good year is a sure fire 50 pt a game player

Parenteau is not a top priority solution. He had two good years on the isles 1st line. And his stasts are showing that he is a better passer than a goal scorer.

Personnally, I prefer the wingers to score and the centres to pass the puck and get the assists. With DD and Plekky, that's enough.

I'd rather like the habs to trade for a real sniper like a Bobby Ryan or Evander Kane.

Exactly, Parenteau is like a better version of Desharnais. I like Desharnais, but we don't need another Desharnais, we need a goal scorer who can create chances for himself.

Not saying I don't like Parenteau, but I don't think he fits.
