Stars Kicking the Tires on Gagner, Dubinsky

According to mutiple people in the Dallas Hockey media on Twitter.

Bob Sturm (did some Stars Color Commentary this season):
Quote:
Dubinsky has surely been discussed in the Stars offices. Coming off unproductive year, but center who might fit and Stars have liked.
Mike Heika (Stars beat writer):
Quote:
@BruceLeVine22 @SportsSturm Yeah, he's been on their radar for a while. I think they also like Sam Gagner for that role. Some good options.

What worries me the most with trading Sam to any team is that he is only 22 years old. He has got 40+ points in every year he has played. Gagner focused on his foot speed last summer and looked like a different player when he came back until he hurt his ankle.

I feel like he is one change in training or coaching or something from taking that next step to a consistent 60+ point player.

What can Dallas offer that would fit the oilers needs? top 4 D or bigger 2C

As an Oilers fan, my hope is that a number of teams start to covet Gagner and we get a mini bidding war that somehow results in Edmonton getting a second Top 10 pick and snagging Mikhail Grigorenko.

Really don't think that Gagner has top 10 pick value.

That sounds like a pipe dream.

I like the Grigerenko idea as well. The only way I can see it happening is if Grigerenko is available at lets say 10-12 than the Oilers make the deal at the draft table.

This does sound like Dallas is looking to buy low on someone who does not fit his current team's needs well. Which is probably smart.

If you guys wait to trade Gagner it could be a really good idea or a really bad idea, his value isn't what it could be if he really plays well next year, but then again.. as he gets older it will make his value go down. He has potential, he seems like a moderately fast center that has the skill level, maybe he does need a change of scenery.

Interesting..

What would be a fair trade for Dubinsky? Just remember this was just a down year only stats-wise. He was still playing his same game as prior years except he hasn't gotten any luck.

What worries me most is creating a hole that is going to put us into the lottery yet again. I hope the Oil have a plan for when/if they move Gagner.

Dubinsky, Hagelin, 2013 2nd rounder for L Eriksson. Would you PULL the trigger? Would Dallas?

If Gally is gone, then the Leafs take Grigo at 5 IMO.

Earlier this year before the Mono/Playoff performance, Grigerenko was deemed to be able to play in the NHL next year.

If this was the case he can move into Gagner's current position and play with Hemsky and someone else.

If we can get our hands on Grigerenko than our top six is set for years to come.

Hall - RNH - Ebs
Hemsky - Grigerenko - Yakupov

Why on Earth would Dallas trade Eriksson?

I am a fan of Gagner and I got this strange feeling that Gagner will go on and have a career pts wise like Jason Arnot. For those no old enough to remember, the media ran him out of town for not being Messier

Thats possible as well, as long as it's a center.

No but in all seriousness for the leafs, If the majority of scouts actually do believe that Grigs is not a top ten draftee anymore than it might not be a good idea for the leafs to draft for need rather than BPA.

Probably the softest top 6 in the league.

And I'm an Oilers fan.

The Zach Parise effect.

If Parise wouldn't have outright denied New York I'm sure the Rags would move Dubi for picks/prospects in an effort to clear his 4.2 million contract.

It'll take a good amount from Dallas, most likely a 1 for 1 player swap.

I do not understand why we would sign hemsky and trade gagner. we have a log jam on the wing, not at center.
