Maybe because it doesn't hurt as much to keep it balanced as opposed to trying to have it at an angle? Also does he tend to hold the heavy side of the Cup with a certain arm and only that arm?

As has been hinted, players have nagging injuries that they've played through, but not serious enough to keep them from celebrating with their team. Injuries that bug them when they're on the ice, but not when they're off the ice. This is very fortunate IMO.

I'm thinking Brown might be the one that was hurt and that the rumors (wasn't it a seperated shoulder) were about though seeing as he's at home with his family while the rest of the team is out in Vegas.
They did play together, afterall!

I guess we'll see about brown though. Who knows.

Good call. Probably caused the musical grip issues he had when Bettman told him to skate off with the SC.

It's the cup, no way anybody wouldn't fight through pain to raise it. Just seemed ackward when he first lifted it from bettman. He had to have one arm on the heavier part.

Hammond said today that Gagne has had a "procedure on his neck to improve mobility" and that "no other surgeries are expected this summer".

Assuming the latter quote is a team-wide quote and not a Gagne-specific update (Hammond did call it a "Post-Cup Kings medical update"), then I am still blown away with how injury-free their playoffs were. The only guy who got hurt enough during the playoffs to miss games was Clifford, and even he was available the last two rounds.

We certainly were not injury free, just got lucky no one needs a surgery(if Hammond is right in this case). Hopefully the thing with Gagne was an easy job to do.

Maybe he means that Gagne has no other surgeries expected this summer.

Oh I'll certainly grant you this ... however now consider he's lifted the cup what 10,000 times since ? between winning it on the ice last Monday, to the Parade, to the Rally, to TV appearances, to etc. ... sure adrenaline would kick in, but obviously not THIS long either he's just not as injured as some thought, or at the very least it's not something that's effecting his ability to lift heavy objects over his head.

(Hammond did call it a "Post-Cup Kings medical update").

Where'd you see this ? I don't see it in the LAKingsInsider Blog ?

Sorry, I should have said he tweeted it a couple of hours ago.

Never tried to link to a tweet before...let's see if it works:

If you read my post you'll see I tried to address that. I tweeted Hammond for a clarification.

I heard that was a contagious affliction that ended up getting pretty much the rest of the team. Doan and Hanzal were hit particularly hard.
